The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

LJC - The AWB wages issue is interesting as this was a topic being discussed on twitter yesterday by Man Utd fans who were adamant that AWB is not on extortionate wages and on less than Mazraoui by all accounts.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I don't get this Southampton business. They are absolutely desperate to buy Downes and we roll over and sell him for a measly ÂŁ3m profit in a position where our no.1 player is out injured and we don't use him as a bargaining chip in trying to get the player we want... crazy.

Isaak to chelsea/arsenal

Oh and I must say, I think it is on here, there a couple of posters close to his family and a couple more close to the youth set up that might actually know a bit of truth about the situation.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread

Mate it’s all rumours I know nothing for sure and am not itk it’s just stuff I’ve read in the media and other sites like KUMB. The ones I read in regards to us not offering him a contract are mainly two. 1) His dad seems to be very difficult and has rubbed certain people up the wrong way and 2) A couple of seasons ago he was seen as the biggest hope in the youth set up but lately that is not the case and it is thought that others have now surpassed him.

I would find it very strange that we have not atleast tried to sort out a contract of some kind for a highly thought of youth even if the above two were true. It makes no sense even if we include all the shortcomings of Sullivan.

If I had to guess I would say he has had his head turned as it seems we seem to be losing the odd youth here and there recently but that’s only a guess and I could be wildly wrong.

Agree, the old We may just have to wait longer line nearly always means the deathnail for a deal. It's like a salesman telling his boss, don't worry I'll have than John fella in the door soon :-)

"Duran, player power usually wins and we should be able to secure him. We may just have to wait longer."

hahaha exactly what I thought. CALLUM WILSON on deadline day it is then.

Has anyone said why he hasnt been offered a contract earlier? (If that is the case)
Was the offer to Villa of Orford + cash for Duran from our side or theirs? If our side , why if we want to keep him?

Sergi Roberto, practically out of Barça

Deco has personally called the player to maintain the proposal, but does not offer him any guarantee that he will be able to be registered. Aston Villa, West Ham and Ajax, the best positioned to sign the player.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Lifted from KUMB. Ex update

- The club had already turned down an offer for Lewis Orford from Villa earlier in the window.
- It does appear that the club realise the nature of the mistake they could be making and seem to be hoping to try and convince Orford to stay with loose contract conversations set to happen on Friday.
- The club are insistent that they want to keep the player and had prepared a good career path for him. However something has obviously not worked with the communication here.
- What hasn’t helped as well, and it isn’t just the case with Orford it is for any other academy player, is that they have heard of the finances used to bring in 18 year old (and unproven in the prem) Brazilian midfielder Guilherme. His wages would be considerably higher than any of the other 18 year olds at the club but you could argue in the case of 4 or 5 of them they are just as worthy as earning as much.
- Orford won’t want to have to leave West Ham, it’s his boyhood club, he wanted to have opportunities around the first team and for his future to be sorted which isn’t unreasonable requests and this is proven by the fact that Villa and other clubs are prepared to do this.
- Orford was told he had preseason to show what he could do.
- Duran, player power usually wins and we should be able to secure him. We may just have to wait longer.
- Other forward options will be explored with Artem Dovbyk of Athletico Madrid having been one of them.
- We have agreed a fee for Moroccan right back Noussair Mazraoui. The structure of this deal is still to be finalised plus the complete details of his personal terms however the club hope to get him over the line soon. There are some reports that he could even join the squad in the USA.
- Originally KWP and AWB were the key targets for RB. We eventually conceded defeat with KWP as Southampton wouldn’t lower their price and then with AWB whose wages were too high ultimately. He wasn’t prepared to move for what we were offering and he was also holding out for other offers from ‘bigger clubs’, such as Inter.
- The centre back situation is still being monitored and again this largely depends on whether Zouma or Aguerd depart. Early talks have happened with a number of targets still being explored including Tomori, Solet and Chalobah.
- The same can be said for the wing position where Summerville appears to now be the top target although currently remaining too expensive with other previous targets to be looked at again and expect to have updates on both positions soon, once the right back and other issues are concluded.
- There is also a possibility that another central midfielder could be looked at but as this is not priority there may not be much of a budget set aside. We are said to like a few players with Sergi Roberto the former Barcelona player emerging as a potential target. We also have a long term admiration for Richard Rios of Palmeiras who really stood out a few times we watched Guilherme play however he is liked by many clubs and no talks have happened with us yet with him also likely to be too expensive.
- We have had numerous free agents offered to us who could become more appealing as the window starts to draw to a close and we know what business has been done.

Ex reported he hasn't and say what you want about the bloke but his reports are usually bang on

It was reported before this deal last month he was still yet to be offered anything

You make a valid point. Our profit on transfers is astoundingly poor. We hardly ever make money. Rice being the obvious exception - But we generally lose money and, as you say, often double digits.

So why are we now quibbling over ÂŁ8m?

If Tim and Lope have targeted Duran then fully commit. Just pay the money, get him in and move the fuck on to other targets. If Tim and Lope are not sure he is worth what Villa want then that's your red flag and you walk away.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I hope we have other irons in the fire as this Duran deal is taking far too long.
I'd be telling Villa that it should be done by the weekend or we move on

Have heard that Orford has and hasnt been offered a contract so dont know the truth. If he hasnt that seems surprising even if we were going to sell him and needed more time on his deal to up the price.
You'd hope we would extend his deal even to send him out on loan to develop.
Seems likely Earthy will stay with the first team squad and imagine Potts would want to do the same having done the loan with Wycombe

Load of bollocks. It seems strange because it's not true.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Faux - Yea OK, I thought Orford was a bit older for some reason, but still, obviously some players develop quicker and better than others, but here we have a very promising 18 year old West Ham fan and graduate who we are chucking in as a sweetener to get a 20 year old with limited experience, it just seems a bit arse about face to me. Fast forward two to three years and it's not unreasonable to think that Orford could be a top PL player and Duran had a breakdown and is playing in Sweden or somewhere, a bit like what happened with that prick Morrison.

All the above said, this deal is still far from done anyhow.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
The Morrocan at Bayern owed £3 million which is a sticking point holding up the transfer “allegedly”? Same thing that stopped Maguire agreeing to a move us last year?

No surprise if Mancs swoop in and get him.

Duran valuation diffrrence of ÂŁ8 million. Orford worth keeping if poss imo. We lose double digits on most transfers during the Moyes era and dont blink. Surely we can find a compromise with Villa? Split the ÂŁ8 mill and offer ÂŁ36 and increase the sell on fee percentage? Easy tjis negotiatiĂŽn malkarky :-)

Sullivan is involved perhaps. Penny wise, pounds foolish as his ego needs satisfying and he will argue over a couple of million to « feel big «  :-(

Rossal 11:09 Fri Jul 26
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Orford hasn't turned down anything, he hasn't been offered anything by the club which seems strange.

He is a West Ham fan and wants to stay, the club are chucking him to try get Duran as Villa enquired about Orford last month.

As said below i'd rather us continue to turn into Ajax and get Brobbey and keep Orford.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
He's 18 years old Mike, and grew up supporting West Ham. If at that age, football has become 'just a day job', then what a sad state of affairs.

It's not the case, of course, because most people know that kicking an inflated bit of leather around with your mates for millions of pounds a year isn't just a day job, it's a dream only 0.01% of men are capable of, most of them know they're living the dream. Anyone on the planet could've done your shit admin job with a weeks training, and they'll know they are doing that borefest every day just to put food on the table. Big difference, regardless of how much that dents your obscene, undeserved ego.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Supporting the club is one thing, working for it having seen all the internal cogs & wheels might make him feel very differently.

For you, playing for West Ham sounds like your absolute dream ticket, whatever the conditions; for him it's the start of what he hopes will be a successful career in FOOTBALL, and not necessarily at the club he supports. It's his day job, not his 2 hours of entertainment each weekend.
