Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

Anyone see the news thread yesterday about us pulling out of negotiations with Lille over striker Jonathan David? We apparently did so after the deal being negotiated turned out to include £10m in agent fees. Jesus wept.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Looks like the Sorloth deal could get messy. It now seems that the £30m valuation is based on the fact that a Saudi club have offered Villareal 32m Euro's so have said to us if we edge above that and go £30m then we have a deal. Like others I am not convinced he is good enough for us to be held over a barrel like that. Plus, who even knows if the Saudi offer is concrete? Just shows you the minefield it is.

Eerie - Think what you like. It may be cobblers. But its from a good source. And the news of the Saudi offer to Villareal of 32m Euro's does give more substance to it and the valuation of £30m,

Manuel - You make a good point. We do still have a very decent side with the additions of Kilman and the young Brazilian. Even Irving returning adds some depth to midfield. Main frustration for me is striker. How bloody long has this gone on!?!

Sydney - Yea I reckon the YT channels might start struggling now, they do nothing but talk bollocks and it's boring now. I watched ''I've been told'' Nick from c&b yesterday, it was painful, how the cunt can sit there with a straight face is beyond me, he spouts nothing but shit and is full of contradictions. Oh well, never mind eh.

Back on topic, we have grinded to a halt, only 3 weeks now to the big KO. We still have a very decent side mind, when you think of the likes of Bowen, Alvarez, Paqueta, Kudus, Antonio (on his day) and Kilman looks good, plus the Brazilian, just hope we sort out the other 3 we need.

I know we still have plenty of time but is a bit disappointing we haven't done more business, especially for a striker.

Rumors have been circulating for months now, then it was going to happened after the Euros/Copa but fuck all still apart from Kilman, the keeper and the Brazilian lad, given up with the YT channels, fuck me i reckon they make up have the rumors themselves! They just spew dross; fuck knows why anyone would become a patron and pay for extra content!!!!

Understood Man City were owed some of the Douglas Luiz fee via a sell on clause
Villa bought a couple of Juve players soon after
Suspect the fees on those moves were smoothed out so Villa & Juve were in the same net position but Man City got less.
That was after Villa & Chelsea swapped youth players at inflated prices to help their FFP
All the sale price in your FFP less 20% of the purchase price. Jobs a good ‘un

I said relative

As in a load of pointless fannying about something that hasn't, and probably won't happen, on the back of someone saying 'I just heard'

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Hang on? Villa didn’t sell Luiz to Arsenal or spurs because they were playing hardball but took less from juventus?

Also never knew they didn’t like Sullivan.

Sounds like they are making a right name for theirselves and are not very business savvy.

Your 'meltdown' bar is very fucking low

"Just been told"

With respect, Russ' last just been told was a load of old cobblers, so I'm not sure it's worth the relative meltdown, chaps.

Sorloth's a big bloke but he's not a slow plodder at all. Have you actually seen him play?

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Villa supposedly sold luiz to Juventus for less than they could have got from Arsenak and Spuds for 2 reasons. Firstly, the aforementioned chairmen / owners from both clubs were trying to play hard ball getting the fee doen and secondly they would prefer not to sell to Prrm rivals. Dealing with Villa aint esdy so I now think the deal fir Duran wont happen. We missed the window as they are selling another player to deal with FFP that will allow them to get Felix. There’s also the rumour that Villa detest our little Russian dictator wannabe? Plausible rumour I reckon. Sullivan has that about him, the ability to naff off just about anyone he tries to do business with. Underhand, dishonest, market trading techniques and grubby selling of porn not as effective in the real world of business?

We need to get one thru the door soon or the dungarees amd knickers will be moistening :-). Less than 4 weeks to go and one “Prem ready” player in.

Seems our eyes are bigger than our “financial belly”

The old line ''I won't believe anything until he's holding up our shirt on the OS'' seems more prevalent than ever now. Fuck only knows what is going on, but the only real possible take away we can conclude is that we ain't paying any cunt who are asking for too much?

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
You never know whether some of these bids are to put pressure on other clubs to agree something else … ie Villa with Duran
Just need to shit or get off the pot

Ones like Todibo who want to go somewhere else like Juve should be binned off & we move on

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Also worth noting that despite similarities to how Lopetegui plays, last season Villareal used a 442 formation, so it's always possible that Sorloth is just much better in a 2 man attack. If so, that's a massive black mark against him, unless we maybe play Kudus as a second striker (which personally I'd like to see).

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Let's hope we get the same player as he was last season, and not the player he was for the rest of his career."

Yeah, sure, but it's not like he's played every season at the same club, with the same team mates, same manager, etc. Maybe him scoring 26 goals last season was mainly down to how Villareal set up. Their manager prefers a high pressing, possession game with attacks coming from the flanks, exactly the same as Lopetegui. Surely it's better to get someone who has proven to be excellent within a similar system than someone who might have been more prolific over the years but playing a completely different way? We've gone down that route before and it rarely works well.

That said, for £30m I'd probably prefer Duran, even if he's more of a risk.

ludo21 5:49 Wed Jul 24
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
£30m does seem a tad excessive!

Duran has got to be the better bet surely?

Perhaps there will be a few more exits and we will get both?

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Sorloth for £30m?

Almost 29, 2 possibly 3 good seasons in his whole career (1 of which was in a decent league), failed in his previous attempt in the Premier League.

All that time to find a striker, and that's the best we can come up with?

Let's hope we get the same player as he was last season, and not the player he was for the rest of his career.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Just been told that we offered Villareal £25m for Sorloth but they rejected. We were going back in with £30m (expected to be accepted) but held back due to a thigh injury and awaiting assessment. That's now completed and its said that he would pass a medical as it stands even with the injury which is expected to keep him out for 2 to 3 weeks. So we are going to up the offer and it should be accepted. This is why its taken a while.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I'm not sure how highly rated Irving is but his recall may be the reason we cashed in on Downes?

He seems a very positive bloke though.
