Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

I saw an article from June last year on X . Urging Brighton to sign Irving saying he was the perfect replacement for macalister .it Wouldn't surprise me if this is a steitden masterstroke . Here's hoping.

Forgot about Irving..

Having been based in Germany for a while you have to assume that he is a TS signing so hopefully he will prove to be useful.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
As it stands, Cornet and Ings are to all intents and purposes new signings given Moyes decided to totally disregard them.

They might prove to be shit, they might not. But they're players we couldn't factor in last year.

Irving is also a 'new' signing. Might be good enough, might not be...but maybe he's shown as much as Downes already to be thought of as a more likley contributor.

As pointed out by someone else, we've been after both Garcia and Kante, so it seems pretty likely he considers another CM as a key part to add to the squad.

Agreed though, if we add in Duran, one of the three RBs linked (I'd quite like to poach the Man Utd Moroccan target and leave them with the player they don't want), a Centre Back and another Attacking wide player, maybe with Soucek leaving and either Cornet, Ings or Antonio leaving...then we'll be in decent shape.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
If, as looks likely, we end up with something like

Guilherme
Kilman
Fotheringham
Duran
Jota Silva
AWB (or other RB)
Another CB

then it will have been a pretty good window and the squad has definitely been improved.

Presumably we will also bring in another CDM but I would have been perfectly happy keeping Downes and doubt his replacement will prove to be better in the long run.

As others have said the 3/4 youth team players that should join the first team squad this season will also provide better depth and will hopefully prove to be great long term assets.

Nutsin, I don’t think anyone has a clue. The only thing that we know for sure is that Tim come out and said we are in a very very good position financially.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
According to KUMB, Duran is done and will be announced by the weekend. Don’t get the delay? Maybe we are announcing more than one?

Looks like we have cleared some wages off the books with the departures, so the question becomes just how big or little is our transfer budget this window? Anybody care to comment on how much they expect us to be spending the rest of this window?

Sir Alf - what I find weird about solely blaming Sullivan, is that we went out and overspent (in my eyes) on a mid table centre back pretty easily, so why would he hold up similar transfers?

It seems clear to me that Sullivan had no choice but to bring in Kilman... whatever the fee. With Lopetegui making it clear he was central to his plans, and with Lopetegui having previous for storming out if he feels unsupported (and for the selling club knowing that fact better than anyone). Inevitable

I disagree. Steidten has brought a more dynamic approach to our transfers. Albeit he is struggling a bit more this season and that, as others have pointed out, is because we aren't in Europe.

You mention the players he has brought in this season. And talk of them with disdain. But the Brazilian kid was well regarded and being chased by numerous clubs. Kilman you say we over paid. But her was Wolves captain and most consistent player last season. I think only at end of this season will we know if we overpaid or not. But also look at last season. No chance we sign Kudus and Alvarez without Steidten.

West Ham Get Hammers Stars To Tilt Man Utd Target To London Stadium

West Ham United stars Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez have spoken to Manchester United target Noussair Mazraoui to convince him to consider a move to the London Stadium this summer, according to ExWHUemployee.

Bayern Munich are prepared to listen to offers for Mazraoui, who has attracted interest from the Premier League.

Manchester United and West Ham have put in enquiries as they explore the possibility of signing the right-back from the German giants this summer.

Mazraoui is keen on a transfer to the Premier League and West Ham have deployed two of their players to try and sell a move to the London Stadium.

It has been claimed that Kudus and Alvarez have had conversations with the Bayern Munich star to convince him to consider a move to West Ham.

The West Ham duo are former Ajax team-mates of Mazraoui and still share a close relationship with him
Manchester United are also pushing to sign him by leveraging his relationship with his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

The Premier League giants are reportedly trying to move on Aaron Wan-Bissaka to make space for the pursuit of Mazraoui.

Not sure anything below Champions league is a major barrier in attracting players
Would be great if things were moving quicker but will judge when the window closes

I did hear that he was working on transferring Come On You Irons to either a club in Ukraine or Gaza FC

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Im hoping youre correct Stubbo as that is at least an understandable explanation. I might not agree ( yet ;-) ) with COYI’s thoughts but he’s not entirely incorrect in that, to date, Steidten this window has got the Brazilian in. Killman even Moyes and co could have got you wouod have thought as arguably we overpaid by £10million.

Things can change quickly and there are still a few weeks lett but currently it looks like we will be starting the season with a makeshift squad?

Not being in Europe next season makes Steidten's job much harder. But I have faith in him and am sure we'll fill in the gaps before too long.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
For me Steidten is turning out to be yet another fraud milking the club for millions and delivering very little.

We no longer have Moyes to blame for the slow progress in the transfer market. Stiedten came in was was supposed to be some transfer guru and all we have signed is an 18 year old Brazilian kid and paid well over the odds for an uncapped English defender from a fellow Premier League club.

Pathetic. Relegation battle next season, nailed on.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Latest suggestion is given the lack of Paqueta money and the volume of players we need, we have a 'fixed per position' budget (so not a tiny budget overall, just restricted amount per position) and we're somewhat playing hardball over what we consider high valuations.

To me that seems pretty reasonable. KWP and arguably Wan Bissaka, and arguably Duran are being over priced, so if we move on to other non-PL based players considered better value, it either forces Villa/Southampton/Man Utd to drop their prices, or we go for the other players.

Just makes the whole thing a bit drawn out. Sounds like Steidten negotiates the fee, and then Sullivan signs off...but given Steidten knows the budget by position he can handle most of the negotiation.

Frustrating as on-lookers, but seems a reasonable approach.

Yeah, that's put it in better words how I feel also. I find it difficult to criticise the club on here at the moment, as I guess it's still Lopetegui's honeymoon period and everyone is happy and everything, and people have this bizarre idea I hate Lopetegui because I wasn't completely convinced he was the best appointment (that doesn't mean I'm against his appointment).

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
What none of us know is the exact process and roles involved with the bidding and deal making? Steidten and team identify who to bid on but who makes the first bid, who is talking to agents and club reps. Seems Steidten and Loppy talk to the player. Then who revires and negotiates terms, fee structures, payment schedules, agent fees and the “add ons”.

Depending on the little Stalin wannabe’s involvement we can perhaps see why our transfer business is the most protracted, frustrating and often misleading of all clubs? Our little Russian egomaniac has a lifetime history of “dirty dealing” and dishonesty.

We also have a net spend of what £25 million this window? Kehrer, Benrahma, Downes and perhaps even Fornals out since the last window and Aguerd next. Kilman and the Brazilian in for 65mill? Aguerd coming in will bring perhaps £20 mill?

We break even on fees and may actually be in the black on wages.

That leaves £50 million to spend on a striker, RB, wide left and central midfielder? Im quoting this as it was mentioned as the starting budget before sales by Ex / Whetstone?

Im not the greatest with maths but im not seeing how we can afford all these players especially if they need to be of a certain quality?

Is the 50 million just a red herring? Was the Paqueta sale central to plans?

Can see us being disappointed if above budget rumours have any truth to them.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
The window started well, but has slowly ground to a halt. I am sure there are lots of irons on the fire in the background and people are working hard. But it does seem again that our business is a bit cumbersome and lacks a decisive edge.

The problem with it all taking so long is that we are now being linked with so many players. SSN did a whole piece on West Ham today with all the links / rumours and it was like a roll call of anyone and everyone almost. Just seems whoever manager we have and whoever Sporting Director we have, it just feels the same. The common denominator is the dwarf.

RB for me was key. I am sure we will get sorted. But the AWB and KWP links have been trundling on too long now. Just need to get this sorted. Also, still no striker. Duran and El-Nesyri and Sorloth. Then this week we are linked with Yilmaz who was in London for talks but apparently Liverpool make Galatasary a £25m bid and his attention is diverted.

I think we will get there. Eventually. And this isn't knicker wetting or slagging the club. Just an observation. I just feel that again the club need to be more decisive and get things done. Appreciate its a minefield though.
