Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

Oh and I think we will get a new CB once we offload one or both of the backups.

Trundle I can’t disagree with any of that. You want your new players in so you can work with them. I’m guessing the international players are not in the USA but even if they are then he should be implementing his new system from day 1 and then it’s less work as and when the new players start trickling in.

For what it’s worth I reckon we will probably see 3 in by the end of this week/early next with them being AWB, Summerville/Soule/Silva (Wesley) and Duran. There is no way the Duran deal is being held up because they don’t want him to play against them.

I also reckon we will see a lot more of the youths than we are used too and people are not counting these in their proposed squads for next season.

You speak to Chelsea fans and they reckon he was one of their best defender towards the end of last season.

Chalobah the Chelsea CB has not gone on their tour.

Young. HG. We could do alot worse.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I think the striker is Duran and it's as good as done. I'd be avoiding the Moroccan right back like the plague, north Africans are just too flakey. That will be KWP or AWB but we seem to have made a large error in our strategy by selling Downes to Southampton before having a deal in place for KWP. Now they're trying to pull our pants down for 20m. Seems like we have irons in the fire for left wing, Zaha, Jota etc. Centre back seems to be a problem area, missed out on a few good ones and the ones we want are expensive and don't want to come!

I aint worried, just pleased to have a new manager and better football next season.

This right back situation is hopefully coming to a head after dragging
Man U & us both interested in the Moroccan from Bayern.
If he picks them then surely they will be keener to get AWB out the door to us

Striker situation seems to be going round in circles
Pick one and pay. If its too difficult move onto the next
I suspect if Villa DO want to get rid of Duran they will also have in mind we play them on the opening day so will drag it beyond then

*they're not here now

Successful in terms of players we've bought in (we both hope), but it might not be successful in terms of how our season plays out if their not here now.

Surely if we changing a lot of the squad up, and changing the style of football we play, you want as many players in as soon as possible?

We're dragging our feet now.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I still can't get my head around that we haven't bought a striker yet.

That should have been the first player through the door the first day the window opened considering how long we've needed one.

Unless the idea is to go with Antonio and Ings next season (which on paper looks like madness)?

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Obviously it has slowed right down but I still think it will be a successful window once it shuts… just that some we thought would be easy have hit the skids and so looking at alternatives.

Yeah, it's nonsense

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
If you look at our transfer business as of 8am today, then it's been pretty shit considering the players we've needed to bring in.

There's still plenty of time before the window closes, of course, but not so much time if you want players bedded in for the start of the season.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I suppose realistically if only the manager changes and not the owners then any changes won't be significant. Suspect we will get the 3 or so we need but likely won't happen imminently. If it doesn't happen Loppi will walk. Also, this pearl diver nonsense isn't really a thing is it.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Or maybe I should say it feels like a Sullivan transfer window

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Dare I say it that at the moment it feels a bit like a Moyes transfer window?

Still time for that to change but Zouma, Aguerd, Ings etc have all gone to the States

Cornet has had 45 mins in each friendly but hasn't exactly grabbed the opportunity.

Figurwd we're in dire need of full backs, striker(s) and left wing and seen nothing yet to dispel those thoughts

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
It all feels a little unclear right now since besides having a new manager (head coach) it's still unclear who is leaving, our best youngsters are a year older and may get chances, and will the likes of Cornet get a chance now?

As is stands I'd say we need 3 more first teamers in, I fancy Duran will happen soon and Aguerd will go out. Hopefully can ship out old man Zouma and Ings and wouldn't be against Soucek going. JWP can stay.

Villa are having a clear out, not sure why as they finished 4th but seem to think that because they are in the CL they need better.

Fancy that, have a good season and then try to get better. Of course that's the sensible approach. Try to improve every year. It's called progress. Onana's their 7th signing with only 2 having been sold (assuming Diaby goes), so they are going to need to out a few more I would think

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
We were close to getting Onana until his sister/agent wanted 30% on top of his salary for her
Presume Everton agreed to that
Didn’t think he was anything special
Villa have bought about 7 players I think but have sold Douglas Luis to Juve for £42m or thereabouts
Also think they are selling Diaby to Saudi for a decent fee

Villa have posted 4 big losses in a row and are under FFP investigation , they need to sort there books and still improve the squad or they are next .

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Anyone else find Onana for 50M a bit odd? I felt Everton robbed him from us and so watched him against us. Thought he was nothing special and was happy we got Alvarez instead.
