Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

Diop was 21 and we got 15m back with one year left on his contract.

I'd like to know what people are expecting Kilman will achieve to justify his transfer fee, whilst reeling off a list of failed transfers?

A nice £4m windfall for Devo and Maidenhead from the Killman deal.

Opinions based on not a lot. Probably be holding your hands up in 6 months.

Bear in mind Aguerd was £30m+. Likewise Zouma. He’s better than the former and at least as good as the latter with two working knees and doesn’t turn like a tug boat.

Issa Diop was £22m! Should we take another of those gambles?

We have overpaid but if you can't see Kilman is a decent player there's probably no hope for you.

We spent 40m on a striker we gave up on, that went on to be top scorer in the CL. We spent 30m on a striker we gave up on that then won the Europa. KIlman will never play CL or win the Europa. He'll never even play for an England team during a dry spell of dogshit cb's.

A poor mans Harry Maguire.

Yes we have paid 10-15mill more than we would probably wanted to but he ( Kilman ) always looked a strong, and reluable defender whenever I watched Wolves. We’ve wasted a lot more on strikers and other players in the past and it was essential to repair our defence and rebuild the team from the back. He has been bought to suit the system and tactics Lopetegui employs.

Just need a RB, another CB a wide left midfielder ( unless Cornet is in Loppys plans?) and a couple of strikers. We will need to sell Aguerd and if possible Zouma, Ings although their high salaries will limit options.

LOL at Kilman for 40m. Absolutely abysmal transfer. Different manager, same dogshit transfer policy.

After seeing an initial €35m bid rejected by OGC Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo, West Ham have sent two more offers for the defender:

❌ Cash + Nayef Aguerd - REJECTED

❌ Cash + Kurt Zouma - REJECTED

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Trundle, if we’re using transfermarkt as a legitimate source for player valuations, would you sell Bowen for £50m? Or Kudus same price?

They then value Aguerd at £35m, Zouma at £25m and Areola at £10m.

In other words, a complete load of bollocks.

I reckon just see how he does for us. Same for Lopetegui. Worst case for you, he turns out shit and you have another stick to beat the manager with and will then be within your rights to do so 👍🏼

Russ - yeah but we are down 2-3 players as a result of the January sales so that's how I would calculate it if I was going down that route.

But either way, I don't have a problem with the price so not going to split hairs as you say!

If that's aimed at me, then I've never accused Sullivan of being tight.

He's spent a lot, I think. He's just been stupid spending it.

Not at all Lee - it was a general observation rather than a dig at an individual.

Arsenal want £50m for Nketiah & £20-£25m each for Smith -Rowe & Reiss Nelson who don’t start
As part of the FFP scam Villa and Chelsea were valuing youth players at £19m
Can make Kilman sound like a bargain

LOL. We sold them first so I am going to go with we had the money for them. They weren't part of the Kilman deal.

Anyway - rather than splitting hairs.... I do agree with you to some extent. But when you say "us" I assume you mean the whole support. But I only know a few people that have said its too much. I think in general most people realise its steep but understand why and agree with it.

One thing I would say - Those saying we have paid too much are probably the same people that say "Why the fuck do we pussy about with low offers - Just pay them what they want!!"

Like many have said, sell Aguerd for £30m and Kilman looks good value.

I certainly won't be writing him off before he has played.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Russ - not quite.

Technically, he cost us £17.5m + Benramha and Kerher.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
It's typical of us to moan at Sulli for being a tight-ass and then moan at him for backing the manager on a priority signing if we think it's more than he's worth.

Right now that £40m is neither a good price or a bad price. The proof will come over the next few years.

If Lopategui is comfortable spending this much money on him and has enough to get others in that he wants then I really see no issue with it.
