The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

Russ - yeah but we are down 2-3 players as a result of the January sales so that's how I would calculate it if I was going down that route.

But either way, I don't have a problem with the price so not going to split hairs as you say!

If that's aimed at me, then I've never accused Sullivan of being tight.

He's spent a lot, I think. He's just been stupid spending it.

Not at all Lee - it was a general observation rather than a dig at an individual.

Arsenal want £50m for Nketiah & £20-£25m each for Smith -Rowe & Reiss Nelson who don’t start
As part of the FFP scam Villa and Chelsea were valuing youth players at £19m
Can make Kilman sound like a bargain

LOL. We sold them first so I am going to go with we had the money for them. They weren't part of the Kilman deal.

Anyway - rather than splitting hairs.... I do agree with you to some extent. But when you say "us" I assume you mean the whole support. But I only know a few people that have said its too much. I think in general most people realise its steep but understand why and agree with it.

One thing I would say - Those saying we have paid too much are probably the same people that say "Why the fuck do we pussy about with low offers - Just pay them what they want!!"

Like many have said, sell Aguerd for £30m and Kilman looks good value.

I certainly won't be writing him off before he has played.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Russ - not quite.

Technically, he cost us £17.5m + Benramha and Kerher.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
It's typical of us to moan at Sulli for being a tight-ass and then moan at him for backing the manager on a priority signing if we think it's more than he's worth.

Right now that £40m is neither a good price or a bad price. The proof will come over the next few years.

If Lopategui is comfortable spending this much money on him and has enough to get others in that he wants then I really see no issue with it.

Negatives:
£40m is big fee (for West Ham)

I can't think of anything else as a negative.

Playing alongside Cresswell

Is £40m really that high for an English player in his prime who is a captain and key player for the selling club? I personally think its a little steep but not to far off being about right in current market.

However, that aside, we have sold Benny for 14m euros, Kerher for 11m euros and Trott for 1.5m euros. That's £22.5m at todays exchange rate. So you get that in and then pay out for Kilman and technically he has cost us £17.5m.

It's a bit market trader maths and I am sure there are add ons, bonuses and agent fees etc etc but the Wolves fans don't know our transfer business and I am sure getting money in for Benny and Kerher was a factor in us saying "Just pay them the £40m"

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I wonder how confident the club is that we're going to be able to manage to offload Zouma and Aguerd?

If we manage to get rid of those 2, then I suppose we'd still be in the market for another CB.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Russ - hopefully you're right and he's a good signing... Definitely seems pricey in a market which you'd think would lighten up due to the spending restrictions coming in.

Please nobody ever mention his injury record again though ffs...

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
LT. Being English and Captain of another Premiership means you're always paying top dollar. Just look at them melts over in Islington. All complaining about paying over the odds for Rice. Then a few months latter. Shouting to all and sundry. What a bargain they got. Until a ball is kicked in anger. With the guy wearing the shirt. I'm going on the coaches judgemen.t

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Positives for Kilman:
27 and in his prime
Wolves captain
Is a leader
Never injured
Played every minute for Wolves last season
Averaged between 7 and 8 out of 10
Worked with manager before

Negatives:
£40m is big fee (for West Ham)

I can't think of anything else as a negative. Lope has worked with him and rates him so that's a massive plus. Tim obviously agrees and the board have backed the manager. That's all good.

The fee is high but he is in his prime, is English and another clubs captain. So we are going to have to pay a premium for that.

From what I have seen of him (mostly on MOTD) he has always looked solid and reliable and unquestionably is one of Wolves key players. O'Neill won't want him to leave.

All those black county ponces saying we have had our pants pulled down are just bitter. They would love to be going out and buying players. We have nicked one of their best players. They can be bitter. It makes no difference.

We needed too strengthen at CB. Oggy gone. Zouma going. Question marks over Aguerd. This has created stability and strength in that area.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Manuel - no it's you that can't accept others have a different opinion to you.

Facts are subjective, I think he was great value for what we paid and had some great moments for us, I don't think he was a great player for us..

It's you who needs to get over yourself and accept we don't all have the same opinion and see things the same.. Calling someone a complete cunt and telling them what they think.

It should be of some concern that we've overpaid. We live in FFP/PSR world now where every penny counts even if you have a shit load of cash.

All of the football sights that value players for a living (Transfermarkt/CIES Football Observatory) think we've overpaid as well.
