Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

Yeah, no big loss with Mubama, and how many of these kids who have turned down contracts over the last few years have gone on and actually made a name for themselves?

Another kid badly advised by his agent who is maybe more interested in a sign on fee elsewhere.

good luck to him though, although expect it will be in div 1 that he finds his level.

No sleep lost over Mubama leaving. I agree with Sir Alf but would go further - he will be lucky to get a game in League 1, never mind the Championship.

I reckon Potts should be in and around the squad this season. He had an excellent loan experience at Wycombe and was their player of the year. The other promising youngsters would do well to follow his example, possibly in League 1 but ideally in the Championship.

The window only opened yesterday FFS.

He's not going to walk away before a ball's even been kicked.

I can see Lopetegui walking away unless he gets these deals done before the end of July

He wanted them all done before the players came back for pre season, which is tomorrow

We bought 1 player which we didn't really need

This is classic Sullivan, who never sanctions players until deep in to August as he doesn't want to pay wages

This is also why Lopetegui left Wolves as he was let down with failed promises

You can never write a young player off as some are “late developers”. But Mubama was miles off the physicality and technique required for the Premiership. He could perhaps go on and develop at a championship or div 1 team and blossom later ( e.g. Cullen, Reece Burke ) and play in the Premiership but his technique or lack of suggests to me he will do well to make a living in the Championship.

Johnson has the physicality and shows flashesof promise but again another that struggled technically with accurate passing, instant ball control and crossing. A regular run in a side might see that improve and I think he could do a job in the Premiership for Ipswich but he’s not of the quality needed for a side that wants to keep the ball.

Gray to Spurs for ÂŁ30 million? Hmmm, I only saw him in the play offs but thought he was.too lightweight and not Prem level yet. But maybe they were off days but suspect he is an expensive punt which I hope goes horribly wrong :-)

Mubama fee will be decided by tribunal and whatever it is will be too much. He’s absolutely shit.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
So Chelsea, Spurs and Brentford have all signed ÂŁ30m players.

What the fuck are we doing?

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Johnson was offered a decent deal but apparently Sullivan tried to cut his agent out who is a life long friend.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
If they won’t sign nothing you can do, they were offered good deals.

They're leaving for nothing.

Which should been seen as a problem.

Chelsea do well, over 9 players, they get the cream of the crop send all of them on loan and come back to play at some point. Cunts.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
It’s a hard decision sometimes but you have to move youngsters on if you decide they aren’t going to make it as there is another group coming behind.
The group mentioned below look promising but never looked likely to get an opportunity under Moyes
Are they any worse than all the teenagers that Klopp gave opportunities to like Bradley & Mainoo at Man U?
Hope to see Earthy at least more often

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Just to add, Mubama made the most appearances from any of our youth players with a grand total of 5.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I’m not sure why you would be worried about u21s leaving, what club has 3 or 4 in their prem team? Any that really have potential need to play,so important that they get loaned out or get in the first team squad.

---

Despite challenging for the title, Liverpool had about 9-10 players who played for the first team last season who are 21 or under and came from the youth teams.
Some of them played a decent amount of times too, like Harvey Elliot (34), Jarrell Quansah (17) and Conor Bradley (11)

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Spurs sign Archie Gray from Leeds for ÂŁ30m & unload the donkey Rodon for ÂŁ10m. Superb business
Understand Gray had a buyout triggered if Leeds didn’t get promoted
Good work by his agent

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Understand both Mubama & Ben Johnson were offered new contracts
Mubama didn’t look up to it & read that Johnson was guaranteed first team football by some clubs presumably including Ipswich
Thought Johnson hadn’t progressed at all over the last couple of seasons so not losing any sleep over them both leaving

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I think it's more the trend of youth players leaving that is the worrying thing here, whether we rate them or not.

But I' hoping that Lopetegui will give more opportunities.

For the record, there are very few strikers that have looked good under the Moyes era, if any? So I definitely would have given Mubama a chance under the new manager (if he thought he was worth keeping).

Manuel 10:21 Tue Jul 2
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Apparently the club did the best they could to keep Mubama, offered him a very good deal and even Sullivan spoke to him (yea I know) but his agent wasn't having it. Personally I thought he looked shit.

Ipswich now in for Downes,
