West Ham make contact over Ryan Sessegnon signing after he leaves Spurs
Left-back also of interest to his former club Fulham
West Ham need to be convinced he is over fitness issues

Jacob Steinberg

West Ham are mulling over whether to push ahead with a move for the former Tottenham left-back Ryan Sessegnon on a free transfer.

Sessegnon, a free agent after being released by Spurs, is looking for a new opportunity after a difficult spell with injuries. Fulham are interested in a reunion with the 24-year-old and there has also been initial contact from the Hammers.

Julen Lopetegui, West Ham’s new head coach, is keen to bring in competition for Emerson Palmieri at left-back. Aaron Cresswell, Emerson’s deputy, was a bit-part player last season and there is a view that Sessegnon could be a bargain.

Sessegnon, who is also capable of playing as a wing-back or left winger, was rated as one of the best young players in England when he left Fulham for Spurs in 2019. But he struggled to settle at Tottenham, in part because of fitness problems. Sessegnon made 38 league appearances in his five years at Spurs and featured in only one game after hamstring surgery last season.

West Ham would need to be convinced that Sessegnon, who played a role in Spurs qualifying for the Champions League under Antonio Conte in 2022, would be over his injury problems. Signing him would boost West Ham’s homegrown quota.

Milan make approach for West Ham’s Emerson Palmieri

Serie A giants Milan are keen on signing a full-back this summer and have made an attempt to land West Ham left-back Emerson Palmieri.

The Italian has previously had a stint at Roma before he joined Chelsea and even played under Maurizio Sarri, winning the Europa League under his compatriot. Now, the full-back is thriving at West Ham and won the Conference League last season. Before Roma, he had a stint at Palermo too.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Milan have now already made a move for the Italian in recent hours and he is someone who they have been keeping tabs for a while now. He is seen as a replacement for Theo Hernandez, who has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich and could depart this summer and the Italy international isn’t seen as a back-up to the Frenchman.

Last season, the defender played 36 out of a total 38 Premier League games for David Moyes’ side.

West Ham United ‘intend to get serious’ for signing – Hammers want to convince club to sell player

By Naveen Ullal

On June 10th, we covered claims from Italy that explained West Ham United have made initial contact to sign Udinese’s Nehuén Pérez in the summer window.

Three days later, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the defender is a concrete option to join the Hammers and it would cost them around €20m to sign him.

West Ham making contact for Pérez is backed up by Sky Italia, relayed by NapoliCalcio24.

They further state the Premier League side ‘intend to get serious’ about the 23-year-old, who was wanted by Napoli in the winter market.

Over at Tutto Udinese, they state the Argentine and Lorenzo Lucca are the two Udinese players to have received the most interest so far.

With regards to the centre-back, the report says Julen Lopetegui’s side have sounded him out. It’s claimed the London club would ‘like to make an attempt’ to convince Udinese’s owners, the Pozzo family, to sell the South American this summer.

West Ham will have to be wary of the the player’s former club, Atlético Madrid, who reportedly have a buyback option.

Pérez’s deal lasts until 2027, and he made 36 appearances for the Italian club last season.

West Ham make contact with player’s agent – Hammers will make ‘official offer’ for signing ‘next week’

By Naveen Ullal

Last week, Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reported West Ham United have included Fenerbahçe’s Jayden Oosterwolde in their target list.

Sabuncuoğlu took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to explain that West Ham have asked his agent for recordings of the defender’s performances against Galatasaray last season.

The centre-back played the full 90 minutes in both matches and helped Fenerbahçe keep a clean sheet on two occasions against their local rivals.

Quite why the Hammers would need to ask for that is unclear, with it presumably available via professional scouting platforms.

Tuesday’s edition of Sabah says West Ham will ‘take action’ to sign the 23-year-old in the summer window.

The Premier League side have followed the Dutchman, who can also operate as a left-back, for a long time.

Oosterwolde’s deal lasts until 2027, and Fenerbahçe president Ali Koç had made it clear the player will only be allowed to leave if there’s an “extraordinary” offer. According to the newspaper, the Yellow Canaries need at least €20m to consider selling the defender this summer.

It’s claimed Julen Lopetegui’s side will contact the Istanbul club with an ‘official offer next week’ to sign Oosterwolde.

Sabah make no mention of the fee West Ham will propose, and it’s unlikely to be accepted if it’s less than €20m.
