Emerson Palmieri and 20 million: Milan will be knocked out if Inter accepts

West Ham could play the card of the former Italian national team player as a quid pro quo for the Brazilian left back Carlos Augusto (25) deal but a high salary for Inter, Milan observes implications for Theo's heir

Although immersed in the new context of the 2024 European Championship in Germany marked by many challenges still to be played for Luciano Spalletti's Azzurri, many struggle to forget the heroic feat of Roberto Mancini's men three years ago who emerged victorious from the top European competition for nations.

Among the protagonists of that surprise ride was also Emerson Palmieri as left back, chosen as a replacement for the injured Leonardo Spinazzola. Since then many things have changed in the structure of the Italian team and the Italian-Brazilian is no longer part of the national team, having chosen to concentrate all his energies on the club where he currently plays: West Ham. He did an excellent overall job this season, playing almost all of the Premier League matches as much as possible and also pleasing David Moyes despite the team only finishing in ninth place.

Now, however, the footballer's fate would also be linked to the new movements on the bench of the English club: Julian Lopetegui will take over from July 1st and it is probable that the Spaniard will also intend to strengthen himself along the external left lane, exploiting Palmieri's card as a bargaining chip to reach someone who is continually growing in Serie A. This is Carlos Augusto, ready for his second season with Inter and known for being a flexible profile along the entire defensive front.

West Ham on Carlos Augusto, also Emerson Palmieri in the deal: Inter's response

Emerson Palmieri was however linked to Milan, due to the insistent possibility of Theo Hernandez's farewell which continued to resonate even over the past few days during France's training camp for Euro 2024.

In the event that West Ham were to actually take such a hypothesis into consideration, however, it would only leave Milan with the crumbs of a deal that was not carried forward and an adjustment of around 20 million euros would be added to Emerson Palmieri's price tag in the hope of convincing the management Nerazzurri to proceed with the operation. However, Inter would not be interested in such a deal because at the moment the ex-Monza Brazilian is the best that can be offered to Simone Inzaghi in the exchange phase with Federico Dimarco this season.

West Ham transfer dithering means player starting preseason elsewhere

West Ham have been linked with Jota Silva for weeks, and it looks like a really sensible transfer for the Hammers to do.

The 24-year-old Vitória de Guimarães player scored 15 goals and added seven assists last season, playing in various attacking positions.

He was named in Liga Portugal’s team of the year and made his international debut this year for Roberto Martinez’s side, considered unlucky to miss out on the extremely talented Euro 2024 squad.

Whilst West Ham have been repeatedly credited with interest, it doesn’t appear that they’ve done anything about that yet.

Perhaps Tim Steidten has been too busy in Brazil, but this transfer would be less of a gamble than multiple others the Hammers have pursued this summer.

Jota Silva has a €20m release clause, yet his contract only has a year left to run so that amount is very much up for negotiation.

Given the lack of action from West Ham and others, Jornal de Noticias report Jota Silva has showed up for preseason with Vitória de Guimarães.

He’s ‘extremely sought after’ but nobody seems to want to sink the blow yet, so he’s at fitness camp with his current club.

Perhaps he needs a better agent.

Manchester United eye another ex-Ajax star as Erik ten Hag considers summer swoop for West Ham ace Edson Alvarez to replace Casemiro

Manchester United are looking to sign a new midfielder to cover the gap left by Casemiro's imminent departure, and they have a specific name in mind.

After a disappointing season in Erik ten Hag's midfield, Brazil legend Casemiro is set to depart Old Trafford this summer, and United have begun looking for a replacement for the 32-year-old. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have set their sights on West Ham star Edson Alvarez.

A move for the Mexican is seen as a possibility as Ten Hag likes the defensive midfielder, who he has formerly worked with at Ajax. During his tenure in the Eredivisie, the 26-year-old was frequently linked with United. Alvarez signed a £35 million ($44.4m) contract to join the Hammers last summer, and he impressed as Declan Rice's replacement.

If Ten Hag's side do sign Alvarez this summer, this will be the fourth former Ajax player signed by the Dutchman during his tenure at Old Trafford since 2022. The three former Ajax players that the Red Devils signed so far have been Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Andre Onana.

It is likely that if Alvarez is to make a move away from the club this summer, it will likely only be put in action after the end of Mexico's Copa America campaign, with Jamie Lozano having called up the West Ham star.
