West Ham keeping tabs on Watford midfielder after impressive performances

West Ham are eyeing a move for Watford midfielder Ismael Kone after impressive international performances, as per The Athletic.

West Ham are preparing for another year in the Premier League.

Watford meanwhile are gearing up for another season in the Championship.

Tom Cleverley is about to embark on his first full season as a manager and he will be hoping to take the Hornets into the top half of the second tier and push towards the top six.

Kone, 22, played 42 Championship games for Watford last season. He scored four and assisted three from central midfield in his first full season in England after joining mid-way through the 2022/23 season from the MLS.

The Ivory Coast-born Canadian international has impressed for Canada in recent times putting in top displays against the likes of France in preparation for the Copa America.

Those performances have drummed up interest with West Ham now keeping tabs on the midfielder ahead of a potential summer swoop for the youngster.

If West Ham’s interest becomes a concrete offer then it will likely be a forgone conclusion that Kone leaves Vicarage Road this summer.

However, the interest is nothing more than just that at the moment and that will give Watford hope that they can keep their midfielder around for a bit longer.

Watford have struggled in recent years. Their managerial turnover is still high and they have failed to really build a consistent run of form in the second tier.
