"Should restrict Tests to Lords & The Oval as northerners not interested"

Only 3 of this summer's six tests are outside London.

In the small amount of cricket I did see yesterday showed a Sunday crowd well below capacity in a tiny ground with SWATHES of empty seats
Should restrict Tests to Lords & The Oval as northerners not interested

Not sure what the point of 5 Eng v Aust ODI’s is given we are a long way from the next WC apart from making money
£160 a ticket I saw. I know it’s a chance to see the 6 times World Champions but it will be a younger Aust team with P Cummins (on the poster) not coming

"Interesting to see how he goes in late Aug (if summer turns up) against Sri Lankans who might be better players of spin"

He had the first "fifer," in tests, by a spinner, at Trent Bridge, since 2006 and the youngest English bowler (any type) to take 5 wickets in an innings, in England.

He may or may not be a long term test player, but credit to the selectors, for picking somebody with very, very little first class experience and shoving him into the test arena, to see what he can do, at that level.

Apparently the players are playing too much cricket yet the greedy cunts at the ECB & CA managed to wedge in 8 x ODI'S in September

They obviously have no clue how shite the weather is in late summer in the UK, even worse than currently

Bashir was born in CHERTSEY.

Greatness awaits.

Re: England v West Indies Test series
Even better then
July, especially this July , not really spin bowling conditions

Re: England v West Indies Test series
"24 wickets in first 5 Tests is a good start so maybe binning the AIDS ridden injury prone Leach was the right choice after all."

Although in the side, for the first test at Lords, Bashir didn't bowl a ball, so his haul is effectively from 4 tests.

Re: England v West Indies Test series
Not seen the Windies innings but didn’t think there was much for a spinner in the pitch so a great effort by Bashir to win the game

Re: England v West Indies Test series
Bashir now has 3, 5 wicket hauls in just 5 tests. Not bad for a Somerset loanee.

Bashir has been superb - good to see the West Indies spun out.

Total lack of application from the Windies, but decent 4th innings performance from the reserve tbf stewie

Halfway THROUGH tomorrow.

What an astonishing collapse on this pitch from 61-0 to 129-9

I was expecting this to last at least halfway to tomorrow. Some good bowling in this evening session.

Root goes past Chanderpaul into 8th place in the Test leading run scorers list.
7th is Lara about 80 0dd runs away
Not sure if he has got the time to get another 4,000 to top Tendulkar given he is 34 in December but will most likely finish second

Saw the other day that Stokes with 6,000 Test runs & 200 wickets is now in a group of 3 with those numbers .... with Sobers & Kallis
All in an era where Anderson & Broad have taken over 1,300 Test wickets

Re: England v West Indies Test series
Woakes will be 36 when the Ashes starts and Wood will turn 36 in the January it finishes
Anderson is fitter than both of them
No wonder Anderson is so furious with the disrespectful Kiwi 'brains' trust

Re: England v West Indies Test series
COYI - spot on about Anderson. Even when not taking wickets, he builds pressure that enables others to get wickets. None of that here. If you look at the 12 the Surrey bloke git at lords, not too many conventional fast bowlers dismissals there, a lot of loose shots caused by pressure. As for Bashir, Somerset see him and leach every day.. leach is their number one spinner and Bashir is out on loan.

50 partnership up for the 10th wicket. I remember when having fields spread for a 10th wicket partnership was the source of much wailing on here. Seems times have changed.

Re: England v West Indies Test series
Never understand this idea of when you have a middle order player with the number 11 you put everyone on the boundary & treat the middle order bloke as if he is BRADMAN
Normal field & try and get him out
Or you end up with a shit show like this where Da Silva tees off and Joseph is showering the England fans with roof tiles

Re: England v West Indies Test series
Find all this 'great effort' stuff quite patronising, and I'm sure they do too. In truth, England left at least 100 runs out there in perfect batting conditions with utterly atrocious shots from root, brook, stokes and Smith which would have created more scoreboard pressure.
Given that pope was also dropped repeatedly, it could have been even worse. It may or may not matter against this opposition, but the approach has failed to put away any decent sides from positions of strength for some time which is why we came into this series bottom of the WTC.

Re: England v West Indies Test series
First bowling innings since Anderson's enforced retirement and we steuggle to bowl West Indies out and allow them to get over 400 and a lead.

Makes rhe decision to force Anderson to retiee ecen more insane.

Key is an idiot.

Re: England v West Indies Test series
Major error by the white West Indian
Needs to hit some more boundaries and get England batting under the lights
Best bowling conditions of the match .... and Wood bowling to the last pair with the field on the boundary. BAZBALL = YAWNBALL
