West Ham set to launch bid for Baris Alper Yilmaz

West Ham are showing keen interest in signing Turkish winger Baris Alper Yilmaz during the summer transfer window.

The Hammers have already secured three signings, but more players are expected to arrive in the coming weeks, with Julen Lopetegui looking to add new faces.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Galatasaray winger Wilfried Zaha, who is well-known to the Premier League fans. However, it appears that they have shifted their attention towards signing his club teammate Yilmaz instead.

Turkish outlet Sporx reported on 17 July that the Hammers were impressed with Yilmaz’s performance during the Euro 2024 Championships.

Gala are not willing to sell the 20-times capped Turkey international, but West Ham are looking to test their resolve with a mouthwatering bid.

The Hammers are preparing to launch a £29 million bid for the 24-year-old winger.

Should West Ham look for options elsewhere?

Yilmaz is a versatile winger who can play across all positions up front. West Ham have already signed Luis Guilherme, but he is mainly seen as a player for the future.

It is not always a good idea to sign a player based on the performance of an international tournament. Unless West Ham have scouted him properly, they must not spend recklessly on someone based on his performance in the Euro championships.

Yilmaz impressed with his all-round performances in Euro 2024, but he did not score during the tournament.

Last season, he ended the Super Lig campaign with six goals and six assists in 37 appearances.

West Ham have Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta in their ranks, but there is no harm in adding more quality in the attacking areas.

Moreover, Paqueta is facing an uncertain future and Brazilian club Flamengo are looking to sign him this summer.

The Hammers should ditch the idea of spending heavily on wide players rather they should aim to sign a new striker.

Danny Ings and Michail Antonio still remain at the club but West Ham need a prolific goalscorer upfront.
