Chelsea new stadium plan off
Looks like the new Magnitsky Act has done for their shiny new stadium.

Or one of Roman’s Saudi mates will buy the club and they’ll become even richer.

So what if he sells them. They’ve got no proper support beyond 7k or so. They’re a QPR or a Fulham. Let them go a few years without winning which is exactly what would happen with an American hedge fund using a massive loan against the club to buy them.

That ground will be flats and shops by 2025 and they’ll be playing in Slough.

The thing about corporate seats is interesting
Clubs should know that most corporate entertaining would be based more around midweek Champions league games. Most corporates who aren’t dedicated fans want to be entertained midweek and keep weekends for their families from my experience.
Might be interested in the occasional weekend game v Man U etc but not routine Saturdays v Cardiff or Huddersfield.
And if you fail they won’t be interested at all

Berks? CHARMING

My point is that there are several clubs now spending a lot of money (incl Man U) and more than 4 shoo-ins for the Champions League spots.
Buying a club like Chelsea gives you the right to spend a lot of money without the certainty of Champions League or titles . If you don’t and get out of the Champions League club then you fall behind in attracting the best players and spiral further down
Hopefully that’s Chelsea’s future

If Roman does decide to sell there will be no shortage of buyers I’m afraid.

Unlike us.

Why do berks like you always seem to put Man Utd into the same bracket as Chelsea and Man City. As much as I hate Man Utd their owners have nothing in common with the owners of the other two.
The septics who found a way to use other peoples money to buy the club have only ever taken tens of millions out, whereas the other two clubs only succeed because their owners plough hundreds of millions into their clubs through various questionable means that somehow circumvent so-called FFP.

Don’t imagine they were planning any £289 season tickets in Roman’s new House of Laundry.

Interesting that Chelsea reckon they’d have made £40-50m a year extra from the new stadium alone just due to having 20,000 extra seats. We’ve added 25,000 seats and make peanuts according to G&S. Funny that!

Re: Chelsea new stadium plan off
The thing with the rise of multiple rich teams ... Man City , Man U etc and 4 Champions League places means that any potential Chelsea owner is buying the right to shovel hundreds of millions in each year to maintain your place and make a ‘smallish’ profit.
Chelsea are out of the Champions League and very unlikely to beat Man City (at least) to the title.
Would you pay a billion quid to take over Chelsea where they are right now in the environment and market they are in?
Ideally Abramovich loses interest and the enthusiasm to shovel in more money and let’s them stagnate and fade.
The sulking over the stadium investment is a good sign.

Hopefully the days of Tommy Langley, John Bumstead and Mickey Droy return with 8,000 cheering on the team under manager Geoff Hurst.

I think the real likelihood is that if Abramovich cannot live in UK he will lose interest in Chelsea but stay as owner and occasional visitor when he gets the chance.

As long as Chelsea operate profitably he will sit tight until someone makes him an offer he can't refuse. It means that Chelsea will have to live within a budget. Compare that to having over the last few years, £1.1bn of accumulated losses.

It will be interesting to see Chelsea having to live within their means like WH do....

"He has also ensured that Chelsea remain debt-free, though holding company Fordstam Ltd was listed in the club's most recent accounts with £1.1bn of debt in the form of an interest-free loan from Abramovich, theoretically repayable on 18 months' notice.

It has been reported that the Russian billionaire would seek that money back if he ever decides to sell the club, though it is likely that the cost of repayment would be covered by any incoming owner."

No shit he'd want his money back. It's 10% of his entire wealth. He's hardly going to write that off for the benefit of the next owner.

Latest from BBC - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44332603

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has "withdrawn" his application for a UK visa, the BBC understands.

A source close to the Russian tycoon said his application to extend his investor visa had not been refused or denied, as reported in the press.

Changes to the visa process, which came into force in 2015, mean applicants may be required to prove the origins of their wealth.

Interesting and hopefully the start of their collapse!
