Team for Dinamo Zagreb

A dead rubber, so a great opportunity to give a start to some squad players and take a look at some of the emerging talent from the U23s. The U23s are absolutely flying at the moment so it's a good feeling to know that we have strength in depth and can put out a reserve side and still compete with a side like Dinamo.

Obviously Areola goes in goal. At RB it's a great chance to take a closer look at Ashby, but Moyes might want to give Fredericks a run-out. At LB, Cresswell is coming back from injury and should be kept back for Burnley. I think we are probably all agreed that Masuaku is not a LB. Johnson is injured, so I would say that Longelo is overdue a chance. At CB we have a bit of an injury crisis so I would throw in both Baptiste and Alese. They are both very talented and are used to playing together. With two senior CBs injured we really need to take a look at these two. In reality, this would be a very inexperienced back four so I would be surprised if Moyes didn't play one of our two available senior CBs, but I say give the youngsters a chance.

A midfield pair of Noble and Kral will provide experience and leadership.

I would play Vlasic, Benrahma and Chesters as AMs and young Perkins up front. I must admit I will be pleasantly surprised if Moyes picks so many of the young players, but hey, nothing to lose.

That’s 4 kids the 2 at the back and in midfield are next to seasoned experienced pros and Perkins up top has experience around him.

We need Kral being fit to go back into centre back - any injury, illness or suspension to either Diop or Dawson and we are fucked. We can’t have an U23 only to step in. Kral needs some game time there.

Got tickets for tonight but can't go.

Recently cancelled BT sports.

Will wait to see starting line up before deciding if I want to reactivate it or not - I will pay for it if there are a load of kids playing to see how they do in a first team match.

Totally agree Any Old Iron.

Until at least January we're going to need the first team squad inc Benrahma, Masuaku... like that or not it's the case.

So really we have five first team squad players who never really play and could use the minutes ie Noble, Kral, Yarma, Vlasic, Areola... so start them plus the 23s. I am worried that Moyes will play too many of the first team... he'll definitely decide to play either Diop or Dawson in with one of the U23 CBs I reckon as he's so risk averse in terms of team selections. I never thought I'd want anyone to do an Allardyce again until now.

This is the only kind of game where I can happily call for David Moyes to 'do an Allardyce'.
He should only playing reserves and kids. Why would he risk any first teamer in a completely meaningless game?

Let’s hope that the Admin staff are on top of this and don’t allow the team to accidentally play an ineligible player. We don’t want to be thrown out of the competition 😬

Same as Fifth Column 11:12 Mon Dec 6 for me, the players that never start in the Premier plus the best of the U23s. Especially the CBs and LB to see who comes up to the first team bench.

I don’t want to see a single player that will start on Sunday and I don’t want to see any of them on the bench we now need to protect the squad we can’t afford anymore first team injuries
If cresswell is back for Sunday and we are going to a back four at the weekend and assuming he’ll start fornals over benrahama
