Is Putin about to make a big mistake?
Lots of talk here that he is about to invade Ukraine.

NATO and the US won’t get involved but heavy sanctions have been threatened and Putin has threatened ending all diplomatic ties with the west.

Latest is that Putin will stage an attack making it look like Ukraine starts the conflict.

What’s being reported over there?

Is it about to kick off?

Re: Is Putin about to make a big mistake?
This is a good article mostly about reserves the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has lost. However, there is a bit about the EU…

“Last week 45 members of the European Parliament wrote to the leaders of the EU asking for a centralised registry to be created detailing where the CBR funds are held, as well as €19bn worth of frozen oligarchs' money and other sanctioned Russia citizens and companies. Delfi reports that the EU has still not been able to identify where the majority of the CBR funds are held. Moreover, they admitted the $300bn number was based on the CBR’s own reporting of the amount held in Europe and not on reports from the institutions that were supposed to hold the reserves; consequently the amount held in Europe may be a lot lower than the reported figure of $300bn.”

Have you read it, Kenneth?

If only the EU could find it.

Funny how Joe Biden has been selling out the US to China don’t you think?

I mean you must be livid with all the pay to play going on at Biden Inc. I know how much you are against that kind of thing.

You’ve been mugged right off, again!

$300bn in frozen Russian assets are a good start. Vlad’s probably got that tucked away down the back of his sofa at his dacha, stolen from the Russian people.

Not as mind boggling as the current $411 billion estimated cost to rebuild Ukraine.

Bakhmut and Avdeevka have been heavily fortified for over ten years by Ukraine and the West.

Both sides have lost tens of thousands, probably in equal numbers roughly.

Ukraine is fighting for territory, Russia is trying to demilitarise Ukraine.

Its way over 75Bn. More like 110Bn. None of it has gone to ordinary Ukrainians.

'the Russians will... let the Ukrainians punch air for a month or so.'

Well, if that's the case, since that's precisely what the Ukrainians have been doing to the Russians in Bakhmut for the past six months, Russia will prove to have been very good learners and the Ukrainians uncharacteristically silly.

Re: Is Putin about to make a big mistake?
Ukraine started with between 1200 and 2000 pieces of artillery, they now have 300, most of which are from NATO partners.

Ukraine started with probably the biggest tank fleet in Europe (excluding Russia), now most of their tanks are coming from NATO partners in dribs and drabs or replaced with IFVs and Humvees etc.

Ukriane started with a sophisticated multi-layer Air defence system, it is now reliant on various NATO partner systems coming in dribs and drabs.

Its the same with the Ukr Airforce, repeat ad nauseam.

Where has all this kit gone? Its almost as if they are being de-militarised.

Ukraine and its masters have amassed an 80,000 iron fist to de-blocade Bakhmut, which it probably will, because the Russians will use artillery and let the Ukrainians punch air for a month or so. What happens after? is this the point that they tag out and let the Poles have a go?

Re: Is Putin about to make a big mistake?
You can believe they are using that kind of missile on drones if it makes you feel better, Kenneth. Goodness me, you are hardly a barrel of laughs after all.

Re: Is Putin about to make a big mistake?
"Artem Starosiek, the head of Molfar, a Ukrainian consultancy that supports the country’s war effort, estimated that it costs up to seven times more to use a missile to shoot down a drone than it does to launch one. The Iranian drones can cost as little as $20,000 to produce, while the cost of firing one of the surface-to-air missiles used by Ukraine can range from $140,000 for a Soviet-era S-300 to $500,000 for a U.S.-made NASAM, or National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System."

“The cost is irrelevant as long as the West keeps providing military assistance to Ukraine,” Mr. Boulegue said.

The $75bn US aid breaks down like this, Michael. Here’s a proper article spelling it out https://www.cfr.org/article/how-much-aid-has-us-sent-ukraine-here-are-six-charts.

Oh dear, hasn’t anyone in your network of Ukrainian connections told you they fight so well exactly because they are perfectly aware of the numbers?

Maybe your Ukrainian connections think as much of you as we do, saddo?
