"Grumps My take on BB - FWIW, probably says more about me. While it was undeniably well directed, filmed and acted, I just couldn't develop any empathy for any of the characters. I found them all without any redeeming features. I just feel that without any connection - I just couldn't maintain my interest in any of them. As I say, that's just my view. Usual disclaimers."

"Every programme you ever watch will have its critics or fans. For me, I thought BB was massively average and I struggle to understand why anyone other than a drug addict would have it in their top 5.o Started promisingly but then had a few seasons where fuck all happened, but then i loved the end. The marmite saying was made for the show."

"I think Breaking Bad was probably one of the first series for all this binge watching series we have now, yeah some of the episodes have some padding but there are some superb characters. As people have rightly said Mike and Gus and of course Saul which have crossed into the series Better Call Saul, which is also superb."

"I recently binged the whole of BB, was good and some episodes better than others but I wouldn’t say it was the best. And most definitely agree with the earlier poster re: the fly episode."

"Jim - You know how a judge a good show? It's when you can't wait until you watch the next episode. but with this I'm in no hurry. But yes, will stick with it just on the basis that so many people can't be wrong. I was just expecting something better though, so far.. Shows can be very good/interesting without loads of action btw..and I've seen plenty of them."

"Manuel, just save your over riding view of it until you have finished it. A lot of the elements you may consider slightly tedious at these early stages are just setting the scene for later. Its not all action all of the time but its also not meant to be, if you want that then something like Sons Of Anarchy is more your bag (also brilliant)."

"I wouldn't say Breaking Bad is average. More like a series of highs and lows. Most of the characters are great but White's whiny young sidekick and his boring family take up way too much screen time and there's a lot of tedium spread throughout those 60+ hours, not just at the start, although as said it does improve with the appearance of Gus and Mike."

"Breaking Bad does get so much better, becomes very dark as the seasons clock up and the character development of Walter White is sublime. The latter additions of characters such as Gus Fring and Mike is first class. Gomorrah is one of the best things I;ve ever watched. The latest, 4th season, was the best yet and im just grateful that it is slated for a 5th."

Browno22 11:45 Sun Jul 14 Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls Been watching Gomorrah. Fucking amazing viewing. Can't beleive I waited so long. Midway through season 2. Gennaro has grown on me. However I really hate Ciro since I have become convinced he is actually Simone Zaza ___ hahah lucky you. I wish i could erase and rewind and start it all over again!
