Re: Moyes Out
"Im a bit on the fence with this, if he goes im not that bothered and if he stays im ok with it as well, he has delivered but fuck me this season has been awful at times. Who would we get if he goes? Well im not sure Sullivan will again go down the Johnny Foreigner route! but if he did then Alonso from Leverkusen, knows the PL and looks to be an up-and-coming manager who at some point will end up in the PL, strong Liverpool connection but not sure that matters these days. Of the home grown and realistic then Rodgers or Potter assuming Moyes makes his intentions known in the near future otherwise i expect both will have found new jobs if Dave(s) Dithers!! Outside shout for Carrick as well."
Re: Moyes Out
"The facts are, his stats are the best of any manager we've had in the Prem, he's won us a European cup, and we've qualified for Europe three seasons in a row. That's a hell of an achievement. I'm fine with him staying...for now."
Re: Moyes Out
If he's smart he will go out while his stock is high and take the Celtic gig. You've got a 50/50 chance of winning everything with 2 teams in the league. Here's hopingü§û
Re: Moyes Out
"I want to like moyes. I really do. But... His stubbornness and refusal.to adapt is mind numbing. He plays players out of position, he plays horrendous football, his press conferences are delusional and he's worryingly predictable. Easy when you play mid tier foreign oppo who aren't used to us, but we'll.get turned over time and time again in the league and it's painful to watch. If he could just adapt a bit if be for him staying. But he won't. And I wouldn't be surprised if we find ourselves struggling again next season. This time without rice to bail us out. Don't think we'll be relegation contenders again. We shouldn't have Neen anywhere near it this season. But 12th is unless something changes."
Re: Moyes Out
"In the cold light of day after the euphoria of breaking our curse it's a bit of a rock and hard place scenario. Seems like he's been found out based on our league performances last season, but it unfortunately looks like the dwarf is staying put and given his preponderance to stick his oar into the onfield aspects of the club Moyes could well be the best man for the job. If he goes to Celtic who would trust Sullivan to get the right set up for us?"
Re: Moyes Out
"Thanks for the cup, but lost 20 prem games. Football terrible. Take Celtic job with head held high."

Re: Moyes Out
Sullivan has certainly played a blinder that or his ineptitude and luck is unbelievable too cheap to sack Moyes in season and pay for a new manager (the Moyes has a contract till the summer of 24 line he peddled yesterday was intriguing) got out in front of the possibility of Rice staying by saying that rice wants to leave can claim that he and lady Brady have delivered on their promises and trousered some serious wedge

Re: Moyes Out
"So hard to know what to think. He certainly doesn't set us up to play football ""òthe West Ham way' but then we've finally won something. Just. I sort of feel that if that team had gone one the front foot against Fiorentina we might have won without all the stress. Still we won and the result is all that matters. Could he be our Alex Ferguson if he stays? Could he evolve a more possession based style? Is it as risky to replace him as it is to stick with someone who almost took us down. On balance I think he's more connected with the fans since he showed how much it meant to him on Wednesday and at the parade. He might be given some slack by us as well as the board. I'd probably at stick for now. But bloody strange situation for us to be in and pundits and other fans can't work us out."

Re: Moyes Out
I really hope he takes the Celtic job He can go with his head held high knowing he gave us three great seasons just missing out on champions league football nearly taking us to European glory and then delivering a trophy and the best night of my West Ham life It's a shame he didn't kick on as he had everything in the palm of his hand Like others have said if we start badly next season Wednesday night will be a distant memory and he'll get turned on pretty quickly He has a chance to manage his own club and go with his CV massively enhanced Time for a fresh approach we have the players to play possession based football and with Rice off any new manager will have a pretty decent budget Moysey thanks for the memories if you go now you'll always be remembered positively at this club
Re: Moyes Out
"brick_lane - good post, totally agree. Our style of football is so hard to watch and I can't bear the thought of another season. It's all built on being hard to break down, which is all well and good, but our passing and attacking game is just atrocious. But if he stays I can only hope he finds a way of adding some attacking guile to our mostly excellent defense."

Re: Moyes Out
"the players love moyes , bringing in a new manager always disrupts harmony , we have such a good close knit squad i really do believe next season we will be back in the top 7"
Re: Moyes Out
"I'd bet my house on him being manager for next season and maybe even after that. Sullivan I'm not so sure about, he didn't look great on that cup presentation. and was he about last night?"
Re: Moyes Out
"Now is the time to take an objective look at our future having enjoyed the euphoria of winning a trophy, albeit the third tier European one, for the first time in forty three years. If this precise squad were to compete in the League next season the probability is we would again struggle. Next season though we will be without Rice and unless he is adequately replaced we will struggle again under the same old coaching regime."
Re: Moyes Out
"For me it simply boils down to what type of football do you want to watch. I don't want to watch Moyesball every week and don't believe he's capable of changing so therefore want him to leave. Thanks for managing us to this win, but thats your job, thats why you get paid millions. A big part of the job is also to entertain us, the fans of this fantastic club, & you've failed week on week where it matters - the league. By what means? I'm not bothered. Just want a better manager."

Re: Moyes Out
"Will he change? Can he change? Not sure, but we may get a clue when we start bringing players in. What we do know is that he is now fully aware of how many fans feel about his brand of football, the 'you don't know what you're doing' chants at Brighton and the Moyes Out banner at Fulham, that he had to walk straight past, have def struck a chord with him. Players input may also play a part, along with the new Dof. Like most things, time will tell."

Re: Moyes Out
"I think we've won that cup in spite of Moyes rather than because of Moyes. I think that looking at the competition at the start, it was going to be the best chance of a trophy we were going to have. That being said, I will be eternally grateful to the manager and players for giving us the most amazing football supporting moment in a lot a of our lifetimes. It goes without saying, it's going to take some topping - so will definitely enjoy the moment and the next season, giving it to other teams that we're champions of Europe! For me - for the good of the club - I think he should leave. It will not take long, if we carry on in the same vein (League wise) for the crowd to once again turn toxic - we can not afford to have another shit league season. The football , even in the final was so poor. Long ball, possession conceding game plans are not what we've been brought up on - I genuinely can't watch it anymore. I don't mind hitting teams on the break - but we turn the ball over so cheaply when we do have it. I mean it obviously sounds ridiculous to an outsider you want to get rid of the manager that's just delivered a trophy, but when you've watched what we have for 18 months - enough is enough"

Re: Moyes Out
"It's a surreal situation. I think we've all seen enough to know that we want better from Moyes in lots of areas. Will he change and adapt? I doubt it. But right now, I'm not going to re-hash all the old stuff about what it is that makes me think we need a new manager. Everyone knows the details. I suppose it depends on how you want to look at it. If you go into details then the argument to replace him is over-whelming. But, like alot of people are doing now, you look at the bigger picture and go ""Kept us up. Then 6th. Europa League semi and 7th. Europa League Conference winner"" And so the argument based on that is also over-whelming. He's staying now and Sullivan has said so. So Sullivan is obviously in the bigger picture camp. That's fair enough. No issue with that at all. Despite everything I have criticised Moyes for, I believe he has now earned the start for next season. I congratulate him and wish him all the best for next season. I truly and genuinely hope we have a great season next year. And I'm not one of those people that will be sitting with fingers at keyboard hoping that he cocks it up and I can splurt some sort of post about ""I knew this would happen"". I genuinely hope he is successful in winning a trophy again next season. I fancy the double of FA Cup and Europa League. COYI"

"Lee Trundle 10:49 Fri Jun 9 Re: Moyes Out funny you say that, i think that might still be the plan but we just dont have the full backs (esp right back) to do it. also we've struggled to keep 3 centre backs fit. Kehrer and Aguerd have both looked more comfortable in a 3."

Re: Moyes Out
So..... this thread seems as dead as Bobby Kennedy now.... even the most staunch Moyes Out Moaners have been converted the Church of Moyesism.... in which case... close the fucker and then I imagine the usuals can start up a newbie in Sept-Oct?? Winners all round?? COYI

"goose 10:19 Fri Jun 9 Related to Phil and Grant ? ;-). Perfect fit as he masterminds a Brighton like recruitment process and data analysis from his ""arches""ù lair near Albert Sq :-) Seriously though, let's hope he can help address the disconnect between playing style and recruitment."

Re: Moyes Out
"no way he's getting sacked, and nor should he be, but i still wouldn't be surprised if he saw an opportunity to move on in the knowledge that its unlikely to get any better. Let's be honest, we didn't play well at all, but we found a way to win - or they just weren't good enough to beat us - and once everything has calmed down, he might just take the view that it could easily have gone the same way as 20 of our league games this season, and given we're about to lose our second best player, it won't be easy to replace him and move forward."
