Re: Jhon Duran
Fucking shit Strikers are Iain Dowie who only score amazing own goals against us, not Strikers who score Goal of the Season contenders.
I can now see why both Steidten and Lopetegui wanted him so badly in the summer and a real shame it never transpired for the sake of paying a few bob more having seen what he's doing for Villa recently.

Re: Jhon Duran
It seems fraser is just as obsessive in his love for Duran and he was in his hatred for Dawson.
Get a grip son.

Re: Jhon Duran
He's 20..has always scored goals, more goals per minute than Watkins last season.. Their top scorer this and hardly started a game... Yeah he's shit and having a purple patch.

Ultimately, he still doesn’t start for them, and they wanted to sell him in the summer.
They didn't *want* to sell him. They would have, reluctantly, when they needed the money, but once they'd sold Douglas Luiz they didn't have to. He *wanted* to leave (for us in particular) because he knew he would be a starter whereas he wouldn't be first choice ahead of Watkins
Anyway, whatever, we fucked up

I do think that people are now overrating him because he’s scored a few goals.

Re: Jhon Duran
Never for sale?
You’d think you tell someone that when they made a first bid
Everyone is for sale at the right price
The issue is that we spent £27m on a 31yo & £25m on a kid who might be ok in 2 years
Too old & too young. Think we could have found a 22 to 25 yo striker with £50m to spend

Re: Jhon Duran
Of course the Villa board would say that, why wouldn't they, he's on fire and they're not going to admit they were going to sell him, would you take our owners word?
I doubt he'd be telling reporters he was playing for us this season if they had refused him a move outright
Oh and he's not in a purple patch he's 20 and scored his whole career.

For all we know he could be having a purple patch and that his goals will dry up. Had we signed him and he did what most strikers do at our club and failed to score, we’d all be moaning we spunked £40mill on him.
Apart from the fact that Villa have come out and said he was never for sale. So I will go with the Villa owners rather than a bunch of West Ham fans spouting bollocks on the internet.
Re: Jhon Duran
The Diaby sale was a contributor to not having to sell, too. I don’t think it was actually ever on the cards, despite his and his agents best efforts.
A shame, but no guarantee it would have been a success given our record anyway.

Re: Jhon Duran
How does FFP go away if your net spend is the same?
Total spent £19m
Total received £19m
= Net £0.00.
Not sure how that can impact FFP unless the structure of the buy vs sale is different and if both clubs were looking to avoid FFP then not sure that could work?

Re: Jhon Duran
Understood that the female footballer that Juve took as a part of a package as she was D Luiz’s girlfriend was a lesbian when she played for us
And he converted her to take an interest in cock
Yes, they sold him plus did that deal with Chelsea where they swapped players with nil PL games and both put a price of £19m on each player
Sale income £19m minus Cost £19m x 0.2 = FFP problem goes away for both

Re: Jhon Duran
my understanding is they were in some FFP problems so were lining up his sale, which we were up for. But then they sold Douglass Luiz and then actually didnt need to sell Duran so much. Which probably explains why they rejected 40 offers from clubs for him. We probably needed a really silly bid or tried to get him at the very beginning of the window. But I doubt we would have known Luiz was going. I think they took his girlfriend as well! (that blonde one that played for us as well).
So it was really about timing more than anything else.

Re: Jhon Duran
Looking forward to another thread this weekend if he scores.
Depsite the fact that one of the only things most of us agreed on this summer was the fact that we should walk away from the Duran deal if Villa were demanding £40m.
