When you say easiest you forget that to get into it we had to get through a 38 game premier league season to be able to get into the tournament.
The intertoto cup was a tournament you could just apply to be in.
Also bear in mind that because we were deemed a big club in the competition other teams tried harder to beat us, you can’t say it’s an easy tournament to win because it simply isn’t.

Re: David Moyes appointed Everton manager
It’s a major European trophy, it’s the same standard as the ECWC that we won in 1965 and that’s considered major.
The intertoto was merely a pre season qualifying tournament

It was a glorified pre-season tournament with the carrot of UEFA Cup qualification round eligibility as the only reason to enter it.
As I stated, to claim it as a major trophy and comparable to the Europa Conference League win is simply laughable.
Only people on here with anti-Moyes agendas and Moyes obsessives do so. It's just weird and stupid.
I haven’t claimed that the Intertoto was a major tournament, same as I don’t think the Conference is major either - both are made up third tier qualifiers for the more prestigious European competitions.
COYI it was you who said that the Conference was a major trophy. If I agree with you, then I’d have to say that the Intertoto is also major but as it happens I’m actually saying that neither of them are major. Definitely worth trying to win as the reward is lucrative but what Moyes achieved (and I was delighted that he did) was exactly the same as what Redknapp had achieved about 20 years sooner.
I’d even go so far as to say that if you had actually said that Moyes had won us our first meaningful silverware in 20 years, I’d agree with you 100%.

Very sad indeed when Moyes haters start to sound like Spurs fans in attempting to put down West Ham’s achievements. Just to claim that Moyes didn’t win a major trophy with us.
Bizarre behaviour.

Re: David Moyes appointed Everton manager
I never thought I’d be agreeing with COYI and Mad Ferret but they are right.
The intertoto cup was just a qualifying tournament to get into the main EUFA draw, if you consider this a major European trophy then we might as well include the Betway cup.
Moyes won us our first major trophy since 1980.

Must’ve missed the tens of thousands of people attending the parade when we brought the Intertoto home in 2000.It's not worth arguing the point. There is no reasoning with stupidity.I've just got Ladysmith to get to agree with you and I've got all 3 of you daisy chaining each other.
You're right, it's pointless arguing with me, when the issue you have is with UEFA.
I think the issue is more that Moyes’ stature is weakened somewhat when we realise that despite his assertion that he won us our only European trophy in 45 years, we actually won it under Redknapp much more recently.

Re: David Moyes appointed Everton manager
Not only are both competitions the third tier of Europe, but the reward for winning is entry to the second tier.
We had never qualified for the UEFA cup before that third tier win, why are you saying it was worthless?

UEFA's 3rd tier tournament = UEFA's 3rd tier tournament
You might want to get UEFA to change their mind, before you try joe public.
You can always tell the intelligence of a WHU supporter by the way they treat the Intertoto Cup win.

I went to Metz away, and all the home games.

Re: David Moyes appointed Everton manager
Moyes calling Dyche over the weekend to tell him he didn’t take his job, and to get the ‘lowdown’ on the players in the squad is hilarious. Why would you do that? I kind get part of the first bit, having a chat with a recently sacked mate (the word Moyes used) - but not when you’ve taken his job. Asking the guy who has just been sacked, for insights on the squad, is bizarre/hilarious.

Re: David Moyes appointed Everton manager
I mean in a way he was right as no-one ever did usurp him under Moyes, but so much of that was down to Moyes being stubborn and simply never giving anyone else a fair crack of the whip.

Not only that but most posts are abusive of the only manager in the last 45 season to win West Ham a major trophy.
No wonder most people have sacked it off and moved on to KUMB and social media sites.

Flicked their game on before the start of Arsenal Spurs. The commentator said he was surprised Everton were not more up and at Villa like it was out of character for a David Moyes team to play a reserved style.

Probably due to the disrespect he showed to the fans and the club, then there is his sheer arrogance, nothing is ever his fault etc. There is probably a small part of me that almost admires the bravado, which is based on very little, unlike a similar cսnt in Mourinho who can at least can back it up.
