The Redknapp years

Post Django »

I’m sure some are aware of Robert Banks’ West Ham History YouTube channel. He’s got to the the 98/99 season with his 20min videos. That was my favourite time as a West Ham fan. Di Canio had just joined, we still had Berkovic and Moncur. Sinclair and Lampard were in great form, Rio was one of best young players in the league and Joe Cole was just coming on the scene. We had characters like Ruddock and Wright too. Well worth a watch for some lovely memories - great away win at Stamford bridge included- it all seemed a lot simpler then…

I mean, seriously? If that isn't the biggest fishing and attention seeking post I have ever seen, I don't know what is!!??!!

I can tell you - I had a season ticket in the Upton Park BML for seven years and spent about another ten years buying seats in that area. I watched every left back that played for West Ham like a hawk - From Dicks to Unsworth (who replaced Dicks at LB) to Minto to Pearce to Winterburn to Brevett to Konchesky to Lucas Neill (who played there to plug a hole due to injuries)....

I could tell you in detail there strengths, weaknesses and playing style etc etc...... And one thing I can tell you is that David Unsworth (who in his short time was actually decent) could not have even dreamed of being in the same room as Dicks, let alone be anywhere near as good or better than him at football. And anybody that says he is is either seeking attention or literally knows fuck all about anything.

In Ladysmith's case its probably both.
Thanks for spending so much time writting with me in your thoughts. Since I have been a member I don't think I have seen a write up that is dedicated to one particular person. I am truly honoured!

As others have mentioned - Julian v wolves was a favourite of mine. There was a photo in the paper of him with Steve bull under his arm in a headlock and billy pleading with him to let go,  which I had on my wall for a while. The other standout was his 99mph penalty v man utd, everyone in the bobby moore piled on the pitch and schmeichel ran for his life. He was wild but very skilfull, shame he couldn't control himself as I think he would have gone on to be a great,  but that's what he was.

The redknapp years were personally great for me, I was young and had the time and money to go everywhere with west ham, we'd stay overnight and go clubbing afterwards. Half the time the football ruined a great day out unfortunately . . . . Met harry in his restaurant after a friendly in Bournemouth and he was top company with all his stories, a proper football man. At the end it went a bit sour due to the dodgy signings like titi camara etc, and his constant blabbing to the media, and he won us nothing. But it was a good time to support west ham.

Absolute bollocks about Venanles playing wingbacks

defenders

Switzerland - Neville, Southgate, Adam’s, Pearce

Scotland -  same

Holland - Same

Spain - Samr

Germany - forced to play a back ; because Neville was suspended

Game set and match to me!

happy to carry on this row but only face to face!

that’s if you are man enough?
Stop trying to groom me you weirdo, stop sending me whomails as well.

Pearce didn’t play against Scotland and England switched to a back 3. Your ‘game set & match’ is as laughable as your desperation for attention.
Pearce did play against the Jocks !
He got the hook because England switched to…….. a back 3.
Not even my country and I understand how they played.

any other West Ham icons that you wanna run down today? Otherwise do everyone a favour and fuck off.

if you were even remotely funny I might understand posting as this ‘hilarious’ character, but you’re not. Your desperate need for attention just screams ‘suicide watch’.

Saying Unsworth is a left back is like saying Bowen is a centre forward.
At Euro 96 Stuart Pearce was 34 years old and played on the left of 3 centre backs. He didn’t have the pace left to play at fullback.

Dicks was the standout LB in the league, hence why there were so many calls for him to be involved with England.

no surprise you are trying to play down the ability of a modern day West Ham icon, you desperate AIDS ridden simpleton.

Hey cocksucker he played both positions but let’s discount Unsworth.

Now where is your argument that Dicks was better than SP and GLS?
