Sir Alf" wrote: 05 Feb 2025, 11:23 Trundle you’re right but we are making the point ( not very well in my case I guess 🥴) that the appointment of Lopetegui led to recruitment of some players that were probably not top of lists that Steidten and the analysts identified. Rodruiguez, Soler, Kilman ( decent but not worth £40 million of the budget in many people’s opinion) and then Sullivan vetoing extra money for Duran leading to Fullkrug ( who allegedly Lopetegui was ok with to fit his system).  Also Lopetegui made most players including recruits look worse than they actually were anyway so time will tell if they were actually as bad as we thought.

Steidten has been tagged directly to Guilherme and Todibo. Jury still out but dont think they are write offs yet. Maybe they will not work out and then Steidten is guilty of screw ups. Fullkrug as I mentioned, if that was just pushed by Steidten then its a blot on his recruitment but the rumour was that Lopetegui was keen too?

But the point is, Sullivan has positioned this, via media friends, as a summer window failure exclusively down to Steidten who did not have full automony or decision making authority and over half the recruits were picks by others.  A scapegoat.

And it allows Sullivan to return to his favoured model of him being fully in charge of all recruitment and abandoning a DOF model that all progressive clubs have adopted. Further still, it was a half arsed DOF called a Technical Director. He never wanted any dillution of his control as evidenced by half implementing and abandoning it after one transfer window.

But as quite a few on here said back in summer, Sullivan will fit Steidten up if things go wrong. He did and he got away with it again as most fans wont see whats happened, believe the media narrative and have already written off / forgotten Steidten and the new fangled DOF idea as a “doesnt work” experiment.
You really are boring these days Alf and just spout a load of unfounded stories like you're some kind of authority. If you know so much about Sullivan why did you keep saying he wouldn't sack Lopetegui? If you got that wrong what makes you think you are correct about other stuff? You know fuck all about what goes on behind the scenes, you just make shit up and speculate to suit your own narrative. Steitden was fitted up? All very dramatic. Maybe he was just shit at his job, let's see where he goes next, yea? You're a legend in your own bathroom.

What I will never understand is how Sullivan & Brady are not getting pelters from our fans. There was the Burnley game 3 years ago and that's it, not even one fucking chant against either of them, even!; Spurs fans are getting vocal but our fans just leave early to go to Westfield and the M&S food hall or Waitrose.
What has happened to our fan base, can't even be bothered to chant at a game, remember the old days where our fans would be on the pitch and trying to storm the tunnel.
How things have changed, those cunts are getting off very lightly, but I guess that's the plan with them, to sanitise our support and the whole experience at the bowl.

this clown and his no2 are our biggest problem, have been since they arrived at the club. they had the perfect opportunity last summer to hire a modern progressive manager, yet lumbered us with the spanish version of moyes. they then, reluctantly, replace him and give this new manager zero fucking help in the january window. we've needed a young, quick striker for years but all they give the new manager is an injury prone youngster that still belongs to another fucking club. they're yet again setting up another manager to fail.

Trunds there was a lot of media coverage in summer about Sullivan opting for Lopetegui in spite of recommendations by Steidten he preferred Hoeness, Amourim and one other, Noble was not in favour and allegedly the board members were not unanimous. But I will defer to others as that was my recollection and I guess I could, or am at least willing, to be wrong 🙂

Bingo. I'm sure TS was culpable for some stuff but it's comedy how he's been positioned as the root of it all and the fall guy. And people are swallowing it...

I guess Sullivan has to hide behind Macauley, Potter and Noble now for anything that might go wrong

Need to keep this thread going now Sullivan has wriggled out of his disasterous appointment of Lopetegui, which undermined the whole season,  by making Steidten seen as responsible for all of it.

Yep thats “The Sullivan Effect” as he buys players for his head coach that dont fit. He gets most wrong but still persists. Potter not bending over for his suppository just yet

Being West Ham manager is largely a hapless task because in return for a good renumeration and silence one is obliged to accommodate the owners penchant for administering a suppository whether it's required or not.

Even if things pick up under Potter we must not lose sight / forget that Sullivan will always be a hinderence to progress.  If he could only stop interfering in the football side of the club but at 76 its showing no signs of happening so we just have to outlive him 🥴

Massive Attack" wrote: 27 Jan 2025, 16:25 Because of Sullivan (And Brady/Gold) it's understandably been toxic ever since they arrived at our Club. Relegated within their 1st full season rock bottom of the Premier League and then hell bent on driving our passionate loyal Fans out of our spiritual Boleyn Ground Home that no one asked for.

They then systematically diluted our fanbase inside a badly converted Athletics Stadium that ain't ours where it's been a real chore to attend and enjoy matches ever since. On top of that they've long been tight in buying what we need on the pitch until it took many of us to demonstrate against them to dig deep to finally pay more like they should.

Their latest conniving, penny-pinching disgusting tactics has been to attack cheap concessions for the elderly and young for the sake of a quick buck, even though they absolutely rake it in left, right and centre from the business. "17th richest Club" is only good for their pockets and not for the Club itself and I for one cannot fucking wait till they finally sling their hook and let someone else manage our Club better. It certainly couldn't get much worse than the way they've gone about it.

Small time 2-bob Ownership that's single handedly ripped a lot of our soul out of our Club more than any other that went before them and that includes that cսnt Terence Brown which is saying something. No winning a newly 3rd rate Competition will ever paper over those cracks and disguise their utter contempt they have for our fans or their ineptitude in running such a great Club we really should be.
Seems you have forgotten the bond scheme...now that was toxic, and what about the Icelandics taking us to the brink of administration we could have easily been the next Leeds/Portsmouth/Sunderland/Coventry....then you could have had a proper moan

Toxic fans of a club sitting 17th in the income table last year
It ain't prefect but better than when Brown and the Icelandics ran the club

How so? Sullivan, Brady and Co. have given us the entertainment value of Grant, Allardice; Moyes and Lopetegui.
They have presided over the move from a falling down Boleyn Ground to a disused athletics stadium which remains unfit for the purpose of watching football. (Initially, according to the players it wasn't even fit for playing football, as the genius in charge of the move, Brady, neglected to ensure the changing rooms were adequate)
They produced such dross that there were mass protests, only being saved further embarrassment by Covid Lockdown.
The current wizard wheeze is to fuck the remaining "old school fans" off by withdrawing concessions to kids and pensioners.
They are presiding over another circus transfer window, lost count of the "tirelessly working to secure signings" bullshit they come out with through third party mouthpieces and the blaming of others (Currently Steidten) for preforming poorly whilst clearly being hamstrung in pursuing their first choices.
Sullivan was not clairvoyant enough to predict that Eufa would come up with a competition that reached down to 8th place when he "promised" European football on the back of moving to Stratford. Lest we forget our team cost more than the total sum of the teams we played against, not that it was well assembled, more that the opposition teams had financial muscle consistent with a Hackney Marshes Sunday team.
It isn't gloom and doom, it is a realistic observation based on the evidence West Ham United do not benefit from Dildo Dave's presence in the club.
I know it is unlikely but I wish he would fuck off and take the sycophantic ratbag with him.
