In his mind Newcastle are one of the 'Big Clubs' so his in-built inferiority complex shines through and he tries in his ever so 'umble way to hold onto a point against a 'very good Newcastle side' Only the Geordie maggots are not one of the 'Big Clubs' and they are not a very good side plus their defence is as woeful as ours.
