I used to drink in the Ruskin Arms,East Ham high street. The lead singer of the resident band was a Scot and they did 'Next ' and 'Framed'. If you closed your eyes, you'd swear Harvey was on the stage.

Luckily I have enough of a smattering of the language to be able to cope with the lyrics of his songs. I now prefer the original Amsterdam, but not the original 'Au suivant' - Next.
So, any more examples like these? Isn't there an Elvis song in Italian (I'm no expert there). Anyone prefer the original forign language version of a song to the English translation version (often butchered to make it rhyme). Any examples where both are great (Amsterdam) or one is awful?

Those were the days, it was a hit for Mary Hopkins and it originated as a Russian folk/romance song.
Paul McCartney played a big part in the musical arrangement and it became a big hit in this country in 1968.
