And you will do ANYTHING to protect your ego and the perception that you are right all the time. And thats the reason so many of them make decisions that seem utterly baffling, week after week. I hope he goes guns blazing at Chelsea and realises that he HAS to show the fans he is doing EVERYTHING to turn it around and would rather go out blazing than this tepid side to side crab football shit he has devised.

No I can't, because he wouldn't be a football manager for very long if that were the case and we all know Sullivan has outrageous form for fucking his managers about and dealing in half measures. He wants you to think Potter is the cause of the problems because then you're not looking at him. Hook line and sinker. The managers are a succession of fall guys.
As I said, if he gets the midfielders he wants with no half measures or compromises, I think it'll look different. However I think he'll get one midfielder he wants and one half measure. And so it will go on. Sullivan short changing his managers and chucking them under the bus if and when it goes wrong.

What he is struggling with is how to get to that. He has a method but its too slow in the process. He may not even have the ability to get there. Yes, he wants a solid back line with one or two solid holding players, but he clearly and obviously wants wide players and attackers to play positive attacking football.
Yes, its frustrating and infuriating. But to say Potter actually wants and is actively coaching slow boring football is just letting your emotions cloud your logic.

Potter chose to prioritise the Kudus money on a new Left-Back and Goalkeeper first. If he was so keen to get in a new Midfielder then he would have prioritised accordingly. And even when he has a promising young Midfielder in Potts, he bottled to start him.
I think they only came first because in the board's mind they were cheaper/easier targets and would placate/distract fans. All we know is they were bought in first by Sullivan- not that they were Potter's top priority. And probably because he thought it would be easier to bully Slavia and Leicester into favourable deals for us. We still fucked about for ages getting Hermansen when it was clear weeks and weeks before that it was the player Potter wanted. He won't have asked Sullivan to wait until after almost all of preseason with everything else in place. Sullivan just HAD to try and play hardball with Leicester. For once it actually worked financially but fucking hell it took ages to get him in.
He was always going to dither all summer getting Potter his midfielder(s) especially if they were for serious money. You can bet your arse if Potter had any interest in Brownhill or someone else cheap he'd have been in before the end of July. Why did Wilson come in relatively early? Cheap.
He's just reluctant to open his wallet if he's not going to 'win' the transfer deal. The common factor in all three so far? He's 'won' the deals financially and I bet he's especially proud of gaslighting the Brazilian goalkeeper at the same time to put the frighteners on Leicester so they caved. Run like a scolded cat from Fernandes after Southampton didn't just crumble at his first offer, though. I reckon we probably end up getting him right at deadline day for 40 million after he's exhausted all possibility of getting any sort of concession out of Southampton. Maybe we get one other as well.
But I have strong doubts Sullivan prioritised his deals based on what the manager wanted first. Purely on how he could get his shopping the cheapest way possible.

All looks solid to me, Massive. But you do also have to add Aguerd, Cornet and Ward-Prowse back onto the wage bill. They were mostly off it last season - hence we had the capacity to bring Soler expensively etc.
I won’t pretend to be an expert on our accounts. But I can believe 100% the idea that we’re a bit of a financial shower. PSR, cash flow…whatever the reason, I can believe our board - which overspends on shite, under-invests in young talent etc and rewards crap agents - is not covering itself in glory.
I looked a bit deeper in to what the others are on here with 3 different sources saying the same wages for them..
£540K to play with before any other sales, yet they want us to believe we cannot budget unless we sell someone else. Bullfuckingshit.

He basically thinks his wing backs are the only people that should move forward at any pace, everything else is slow and controlled. And he wants the new keeper simply so he can extend all the passing in our own half and keep the ball more without threatening anything.
He literally would be ecstatic to win all his games 1-0, or draw.

Sorry but I think that's crap. To actually believe and say that a coach wants us to play slow boring football is just rubbish. Of course, Potter doesn't want that. In interviews he has even said he wants us to play positive, attacking football with flair, which is what West Ham were once known for.
What he is struggling with is how to get to that. He has a method but its too slow in the process. He may not even have the ability to get there. Yes, he wants a solid back line with one or two solid holding players, but he clearly and obviously wants wide players and attackers to play positive attacking football.
Yes, its frustrating and infuriating. But to say Potter actually wants and is actively coaching slow boring football is just letting your emotions cloud your logic.
I agree completely. Of course he doesn't want to do that. Largely he's forced into doing it because what he wants to do absolutely demands a couple of fast high energy midfielders who can cover huge areas quickly and get up and down the park and the board seemingly are flatly so far refusing to get these players for him (no doubt after promising him his pick of them previously) It's the most important part in the way he wants to play and it just won't work without them. Teams just walk through us because the players in there are not good enough at the role they are needed to play.
Assume Sullivan knew that this is how Potter plays when he hired the man and was well aware of what he needed to recruit to make it work. What's the point in hiring him knowing this if you're not going to give him the tools to do it. Should Potter change the way he plays? Maybe, but Sullivan KNEW what sort of manager he was hiring so to get him in and then force him into changing his philosophy is just beyond stupid.
Why did he pick Guido and JWP? No idea. It's clear now why he didn't pick wantaway Alvarez. The only logical reason I can think of is that it was a message to Sullivan. Get me those players you promised me or we are fucked. Not to defend her but part of me actually wonders if what Brady said on the radio about it being obvious we needed pace in there was a message to Sullivan. She's likely to be on Potter's side in this.
Anyway we've done it to death but it all comes down to little napoleon not giving his employees the tools they need and instead wasting what little resource we do have on shit like Callum Wilson and probably resigning Antonio for a cheap as chips deal to boot so neither gets lonely in the treatment room.
