Perhaps it was a dodgy stream but I thought Tomkins played things nice and simple and did ok. He was not perfect but he is a better passer of the ball than Reid and Ogbonna IMO. He seems less flustered when on the ball and being pressed but we must also ask who was playing the defensive midfield role? It was Obiang or at least he did not seem to be battling back, Noble and Kouyate also seemed to be caught upfield every time they broke which was a lot!

3 or 4 quality players (wide midfield, striker, DM) needed to avoid a scrap based on last 2 weeks,.

Yes, I do hope do so about Collins. The guy overall has been a rock for us and why some question him being there.
He has to make changes and would put him in there next to Reid. By God we are going to need him against the Liverpool.

I'd like to see 3 CB:s, namely

TomPkins, Reid, OG

Bournemouth's inter play, neat passing, give and go, mixing corner routines up - was a breath of fresh air. Well it would've been if it hadn't have made us looking embarrassing.

4 mistakes.
ANOTHER sending off.
Bad team selection and tactics again.
No organisation or discipline.
No desire.
Little skill.
No strikers.

How do we move on from that?

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth - Official Match Thread 3-4 FT
Putting my two pennies in......not read the whole thread but was at the game and this is how i saw it

First of all the thing that screams out most was Bilic and his tactics. Christ he got it wrong, spectacularly wrong. He went and saw them against Liverpool so would of seen that they get the ball wide and get the full backs forward yet he lined up with a 4-4-2 diamond and allowed our full backs to have 2 men running at them the whole of the first half. If he played that formation he should of pressed them high and play midfielders more used to occupying the wide areas.

When we had the ball there was no width, Kouyate tried his best and he had a good game, but he is never a right winger.....Noble even less so on the left. When our full backs had the ball the lack of options was killing them hence why Cresswell went to play backwards for the second goal. The only ball they had on was when Sakho worked the channel, but when he did there was no-one to occupy the centre halves in the middle.

For me it should of been 4-3-3. Lanzini should of started not Nolan, what his thinking was there i'm not sure. I think what i was most disappointed in was the fact there after 30 mins we were 2-0 down and he didn't change it. We was never in that first half and to keep faith with that system was worrying. The Ogbonna sub i have no idea what he was thinking, apparently it was tactical......but what changed tactically from putting Tomks on. Even more baffling was the fact that up until that point Ogbonna was our best player. It's those decisions that puts doubts over his ability to manage at this level.

Jenkinson produced one of the worst displays i have seen in a West Ham shirt in a long long time, what has happened to him ?
Cresswell seemed reluctant to push on like he did for most of last season. Nolan was anonymous after the first 15 mins. Obiang has no real impact, a few nice pings from deep but him and Noble are too similar. Why buy Obiang when he seems to do the exact same as Noble ?

Payet was quiet, the second half was better when the shape changed and he was allowed more space and we was able to get the ball into him in the hole where he can do most damage but i would of liked to of seen him grab the game by the scruff of the neck abit more.

Sakho i'm hearing picked up a knock hence whhy he was taken off, if its anything more then a few weeks we look in real trouble. Bilic speaks a good game but 3 games or 33 games in Bournemouth and Leicester at home and 0 points and 6 goals conceded is not acceptable. Defensively we look vulnerable and we are far to narrow with not a creative enough midfield to create anything when it is so tight and congested.

Not looking forward to Liverpool, but the next two home games against the Toon and Norwich become big big games in terms what end of the table we end up fighting in this season.

Oh and Randolph .....well done, proved alot of people wrong with that performance, could have been 5 or 6 without him.

Also well done to Bournemouth and well done to Eddie Howe. Fantastic side, not the best players but as a side the way they turnt up and done a job on us was hard not to applaud. Howe proved why some, me included was calling for him to be the next West Ham manager. The teams bravery, ability and cohesion on the ball was the closest to the 'West Ham way' ive seen from a side outside of the top 4. Alot said Howe cant do it at this level, well 3 games in he has shown he most defiantly can, a terrific manager and coach and im sure they will stay up this year. If they keep playing like that it will be deserved.

Finally back to Bilic, yes he hasnt fully had enough time to stamp his authority and all that.....but he has got the last two games so wrong that it's hard not to question him. I said before the game on sat it was time to deliver for him and he hasn't. I also hope he changes his mind on Collins, that would be a very bad move.......and so far 3 games in he has made to many of them for my liking.

And therein lies the answer. noble and Nolan must never play together again. Well, preferably just never play again. I think dropping Noble will turn out to be a turning point this season.

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth - Official Match Thread 3-4 FT
The dilema is if we play a wider formation which supports out full backs then we lose a lot of strength in the middle especially if he plays Noble and Nolan together. It also means playing 2 upfront is too risky.

You've got to play Kouyate in the centre. He's wasted oput wide. So who do you play out wide on the right. Noble maybe. he played there before.

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth - Official Match Thread 3-4 FT
Went to the game and have read this entire thread and here are some of my observations.
Am a little surprised nobody has praised Tomkins for his performance yesterday.
IMO he was a great improvement in the way that he did all the simple things well unlike the other defenders. Worrying that our players seemed unable to do the basics, control a ball and pass it.
Agree that Ogbonna was unlucky to be subbed and was possibly a panic sub by the manager to show that he was doing "something".
I thought Bournemouths display was competent and ours incompetent.
They seemed to always have an easy pass available no matter where on the pitch they were but we often didnt. This resulted in the defence playing it back to Randolph to launch it high where it becomes a 50/50 for possession.
We seemed lethargic from the opening whistle but fast(er) out of the blocks after, presumably, the managers half time bollocking.
Also I havnt seen much of Lee but is Maiga really a better option ?
I can only presume Bilic is under instruction to play Nolan (who I actually thought did ok yesterday) and Maiga to put them 'in the shop window'.Sincerely hope it works if so.

Interesting stat I've just read.

Just 6 home wins so far this Premier League season, in 29 games.
The 6 different teams getting one home win each are the top 6 in the table

Huffers

3rd goal down to poor tackles by Reid then Tomkins...they should have cleared it before CJ got involved...

Agree about the other 3...

Key factor was Bilic's narrow formation exposing the full backs just like last week...

Also Preparation...attitude...discipline...coordination etc...all down to Bilic and staff...TWICE...

These managers were all rumoured to be linked to West Ham as managers...

Benitez...Emery...Klopp...Allegri...Mancini...Moyes...Bielsa...Ranieri...McClaren...

All Proven Managers with better records than Bilic...much better choices than Bilic...

So I have revised my statement ...

...".. Bilic was my 10th Choice..."
