You would expect your keeper to get close to one of the penalties especially as many weren't in the corners but he sold himself too easily. Fabianski is an excellent penalty stopper but these games are for Areola to show what he can do. Bit of a let down.
Thought most of our penalties were decent, unlucky with the one that hit the bar as it could have easily gone in off it. It shouldn't have got that far.

Areola might have saved one if he stood still for all 9! Watched the other shoot outs and Pope had it sussed.

I thought we missed out on two big signings in the summer in Pope and Diaz.
Not convinced by the players we brought instead.

Hard to prep (Areola), that was 11 new players that started the game so we would have had no info on the penalty takers (apart from the subs), although you would have thought he might have gone the right way once just by odds alone.

Never been convinced about Areola, Moyes obviously feels same.

Ball went through his legs for first, second didn't bother diving

Didnt think we were terrible, although missed their equaliser. Lanzini shit free kick went into GK arms so we left. In the pisser and hear their goal thinking how the fucks that happened.

Started off slow yet again and thats why we're out. Should of taken control of the game and we would of won comfortably.

Johnson and Coventry were awful, why he took Coufal off instead of Johnson fuck knows.

Our best player by a mile yet again Downes, that lad will be special. His intelligence and movement and runs into final 3rd were superb. Thought Antonio worked hard and wasnt too bad, nice finish for goal.

Bereton-Diaz definately we should be all over on a free transfer. Didnt realise how much of a lump he is and little bit of pace

Anyway another game manager could not lose and he did, negative 5 at the back bollocks, questionable team selection just fuck him off asap please.

Charoo - good assessment.
I thought we didn't start playing till we went a goal down, and dropped off after both of our goals.
Sums us up this season,

Sparta Prague manager any good?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Blackburn - Official Match Thread
Sir Alf

In my opinion of course.

Areola
did ok, good one in one save early on didn’t get near a single pen.

Aguerd looked a little shaky, nearly conceded from his mistake Areola bailed him out, not as assured as the European games, pace and physicality of Blackburn was greater than what he has played against and didn’t look properly match fit or sharp. I can see why Moyes hasn’t put him in the PL team, saved Coventrys bacon with a goal line clearance.

Johnson, that role don’t suit him, ok for some long passes but defensively didn’t look great, confidence isn’t there but he’s being moved all around but he is looking more championship at the moment.

Ogbonna did ok but never going to be back to his levels after injury.

Emerson, started terribly but grew into the game, actually thought he did ok, some good delivery’s, got forward quite well, faded a bit second half, still a bit lightweight.

Coufal - actually a decent performance from him, got forward well, never going to be the greatest on the ball but did ok.

Coventry, game passed him by, I didn’t think he did very well at all, shocking pass to put their player in for what should have been a goal.

Lanzini neat on the ball, played some nice passes but didn’t get a foothold in the game, was playing too deep, should have swapped positions with Downes.

Downes, played right side of the midfield, didn’t really suit him and I couldn’t work out why he was there. Actually made some good runs, retained the ball well and played some good passes but wasn’t expansive or brave enough at times on the ball. Decent performance though.

Fornals - first half our best player, got on the ball, was creative, looked a threat completely different player in that role than being stuck on the left. Faded a little second half and lost his dominance on the game. Good performance though and took his goal well.

Antonio - diabolical first half where he shinned it and fell over, all his better work came down the sides and did ok with balls behind, Fornals goal being case in point, he did well got to byline and cut the ball back 10 yards from our nearest player, we got a lucky ricochet off their player and Fornals did well to finish.

Second half though Antonio did a lot better, work rate was better, stopped the falling over and whinging, he was quicker, stronger and much better, really pleased he got his goal.

As for Subs -
Benrahma was excellent, the goal at the weekend and the love from the crowd seems to have energised him, played really well.

Scamacca and Bowen came on at 77 - we scored at 78 and then Moyes didn’t know what to do, he went 4 at the back with what looked like a 4/3/3 with a 4/5/1 without the ball and the players looked confused. Instead of keep attacking where we had massively been on top we dropped deep, stopped playing football and invited them on for their inevitable goal.

So Bowen and Scammaca did not much at all. I have to say Bowen looked off it still and Scammaca frustrated. Cresswell played 2 mins so can’t comment on him.

All in all we started the game like a bag of shit, got a foothold in from 15 mins and did ok without looking overly threatening and got away with 2 massive errors.

Second half we dominated and did well up until we scored and probably should have had another couple of goals, Antonio hit the post, missed a good opportunity when through and Benrahma blasted over the bar when he should have scored. We never looked in trouble apart from when BBD cut in and had a sighter which went just wide.

As soon as we scored we stopped playing, dropped off and it was very negative.

Great goal from BBD but terrible defending, didn’t get close enough and didn’t push him into his left, let him cut accross and score.

BBD was impressive tbf, good physical prescience, good touch, quite quick and can finish.

Pens were all good from both sides, neither keeper got close - only Oggy hitting the bar or we would have been there all night.

Oh and Moyes - clueless.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Blackburn - Official Match Thread
If anyone who went last night could give an assessment of who played well, bad awful it would be appreciated as I cannot really find an assessment or ratings anywhere?

Ok Moyes set us up all wrong but how did Aguerd do and Downes and Emerson, Benny even in roles they might be unsuited to. Because whoever is manager we need these blokes to at least be trying and decent with their passing etc

it's like the fucking brown out days when you ask 'if we lose again can it force change?' ... everyone to a man virtually, can see limited moyes has reached his limit. he's had a run. it's not been horrific but this squad is a squad he is incapable of managing effectively in the 2022 game. he's a defence based man with one up top. ask any fucking evertonian. this is truly groundhog day yet again but this squad is a top six squad. plain and simple and this man is not getting us top six. from there, there is only one conclusion. so it is now about who is really calling the shots in the boardroom and who (if anybody) from the kretinsky/tripp smith two parties, is digging deeper still or making heavy fucking noises for change regardless. everyone can see the manager is done so i'm sure these clued up investors know their 'customer feedback' very much matters.

Why didn’t we sign that lump who came when we were linked with him?

Looked a real handful, and knows where the goal is. I hope our strikers were taking notes.

I'm with Alfs on this one hope we get tanked on Saturday and don't say I'm not a West Ham fan.
I live and breath the club and I'm desperate for Moyes to go.

VEXED.
With you 100%
However,
Let's forget this idiot has spent 180m on new players whom he will transform into SFA.
Ref.
Haller, Anderson, Vlasic, Kral.
The latter never had a chance nor Vlasic in his right position
He buys Burnley's answer to Andy Carroll.
He plays Downes put of position.
Not one Academy player on the Bench except the second goalkeeper.
What has this idiot got to do to get the Sack??

Surely the board must see the players like most of the supporters have given up the ghost with Moyes. It's been obvious since opening day that the effort isn't there from at least 3/4 of the squad.

The hapless Areola dived the wrong way for all 10 pens, could have just stuck someone in from the crowd in goal.

I hate to say it, but I'd forego the 3 points and a loss against Leicester if it means the end of Moyes.

Got up this morning and watched a 2 min 29 sec highlight vid without knowing the score, I was going dizzy watching the pens flashing in.

As per last season not fussed going out of this, and hopefully it will mean he's closer to the exit door.

Moyes OUT!
