Declan Rice's transfer value revealed as way below what David Moyes believes he is worth
West Ham's star midfielder Declan Rice is the sixth most valuable English footballer according to study

Declan Rice is the 26th most valuable player in world football and makes up just under a quarter of West Ham's entire squad value.
That is according to data from CIES Football Observatory who produce a weekly list of the game's most valuable players. CIES uses an algorithm designed to take in a number of factors to assess the transfer value of players across the globe.
Using the CIES model Rice is valued at between £50 and £70 million making him the sixth most valuable English footballer in the game, Marcus Rashford heads the list valued at a whopping £150-200m.
Rice's value sees him worth 22.4 percent of the entire West Ham first-team squad, the eleventh highest in terms of a squad percentage value across Europe's top five leagues (England, Italy, Germany, Spain and France).
The transfer value estimates should be taken with a pinch of salt as David Moyes has already claimed that it would cost "Bank of England money" to prize Rice away from the London Stadium.
West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has stated it would require a bid in excess of £100m for the owners to even entertain the idea of selling the England international, so a bid between £50-70m is sure to be rejected out of hand.
CIES also collate the value of all the players in each Premier League squad and rank them from most valubale to least.
The job Moyes has done at West Ham by taking them to fifth in the league looks even more remarkable when taken in this context as the Hammers have only the tenth most valuable squad in the English top tier.
Liverpool and Manchester City top this league streaks ahead of Chelsea in third place. The Reds have a squad value of almost £1 billion with City £35m behind them with a total value of £944m.
West Ham are sandwiched between Wolves on £322m and Aston Villa at £243 with Moyes' squad valued at £256m.
To put that into context the fifth most valuable squad in the Premier League belongs to Tottenham who have a squad worth £680m. That is over £420m more than the Hammers yet Spurs sit one point behind West Ham in the league table.
Of course, the value of players on paper might not reflect how much they would cost in reality. Bukayo Saka's price tag of between £100m and £130m values him at double that of Rice, something that were the two players to move clubs would be hard to imagine being replicated in transfer fees.
Along with Rashford and Saka, Rice is valued behind only Phil Foden, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harry Kane when it comes to English players.
West Ham fans will be hoping that no bid for Rice is accepted and they never have to find out exactly what the owners value him at.

Hammers to lose out on merit payment bonus
West Ham will not reap the full financial benefit of a top ten finish this season.
The Hammers merit payment for finishing 16th in the Premier League last season was £10m while Leicester City who finished fifth last term received £30m as a positional bonus so each place is worth around £2m.
This season each place merit payment has dropped by £300,000 per place due to the loss of the Chinese TV deal and other COVID based impacts to the broadcast prize pot. So a fifth-place finish this season will be worth £4.5m less at £25.5m
West Ham also have a number of huge player bonuses which kick in when West Ham finish in ninth place or above in the Premier League table.
These were last paid out five years ago in the 2015/2016 season when the Hammers finished seventh but the overall wage bill has grown massively since then making the bonus pool much larger this time around.
The Hammers have budgeted for a 10th place finish this season so need to finish seventh or above to reap the financial benefit of this season.
The real jackpot qualification to the Champions League with the group stage worth £13.5m to each of the 32 qualifying clubs.
Performance bonuses are then paid out for each match at £2.4m per win and £800,000 per draw.
Clubs earn £8.4m for reaching the last 16 of the competition, with £8.9m on offer for advancing to the quarter-finals.
Leciester City banked a whopping €81.7million (£73.2m) for their part in the Champions League 2016/2017 competition, despite bowing out at the quarter-final stage.

West Ham’s Souček again named Czech Footballer of Year
Tomáš Souček has been named Czech Footballer of the Year for the second year in a row. The midfielder was way out in front in the poll of sports journalists, finishing ahead of his West Ham United teammate Vladimír Coufal. Third place went to Vladimír Darida of Hertha Berlin.
Souček - who is the most expensive Czech player ever - has enjoyed great success since joining West Ham in January 2020, becoming a major star in England’s Premier League.

Choice of two players on a platter for West Ham – Hammers with clear route to summer deals
Around a month ago we covered claims from Spain that West Ham are keen on Valencia’s Goncalo Guedes.
The Spanish club desperately need to bring some funds in, and selling the 24-year-old is very much on the agenda.
So far this season, Guedes has appeared in 21 La Liga matches, contributing two goals and two assists. Several fitness niggles have held him back, yet it’s not too unkind to say the player has lost some of his effectiveness and a change of scene could be a good idea.
Valencia have him ‘for sale’ and will welcome approaches in the summer window.
Perhaps even more interestingly for West Ham is Maxi Gomez’s situation. The Hammers made desperate attempts to hijack the striker’s move to Valencia, even sending officials over to Spain to try and disrupt the transfer talks which were ongoing with Celta Vigo.
West Ham lost out, but now the 24-year-old is on the market, again due to Valencia’s difficult finances. The club will ‘listen to offers’, and want at least €18m… a figure much less than what West Ham had been willing to pay in the summer 2019 window.
The Uruguayan has scored five goals and added four assists in 24 La Liga matches this season, yet that’s for a Valencia side which has once again been struggling.
