Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread

onsideman 10:47 Wed Aug 28 Having 8 home grown isn't the most relevant thing. The limit is on having 17 foreigners over 21. We currently have 17 including Summerville. But if we got rid of Ings or JWP we could still get an U21 player like Jhon Duran in rather than an 8th home grown. We're also likel...

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread

Last season VAR was only used in the Carabao cup from the semis onwards. Made no difference if the game was at a PL ground. Expect it's the same this year.

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread

"I think Lopetegui already mentioned about giving a chance to some of the players who hadn't started yet. I'm hoping by that he means the new guys Summerville, Fullkrug, Todibo and Wan-Bissaka, and not the kids or the deadwood. We should be aiming to go far in this competition and any time you face ...

"kylay 7:10 Tue Aug 27 As with all stats it depends how you look at it. Last season JWP actually scored more from open play than any time in his career. Even though JWP has one of the best direct free kick scoring records in history, he has a very limited range and only ever scores them in a 10 yard...

"Just like when we had Kevin Nolan playing in that position, I don't care if he hits double figures every season, I still don't like him. I want a no 10 who can create chances for others and at least contribute to the flow of the passing game. In a team with the likes of Bowen, Kudus and Summerville...

"threesixty 10:51 Sat Aug 24 I've been thinking the same thing about the false 9. If we're going to play a slower possession game rather than quickly pumping balls up to a CF and our full backs tend to play short passes rather than put crosses in then there's really not much point in having a tradit...

"Yeah, I guess Soucek would be OK as some kind of super sub, when we're desperate to hang on to a lead or try to scrape a draw or win by pumping balls into the box. As someone here pointed out the other day, he's a box to box player who's fuck all use when he's not in either box. If you want to play...

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread

Fullkrug makes more sense as a Lopetegui pick as he's always preferred pumping crosses in to that kind of target man. Trouble is that neither of our 1st choice full backs are good at crossing and our wingers prefer to try to score rather than create chances. Doesn't seem like enough cohesion in the ...

"I don't think COYI wants us to fail so he can do an I told you so. He's already getting all the attention he obviously craves so it probably don't matter to him. If Lopetegui does OK then he'll just switch to some other whipping boy, unless people just learn to ignore him."

"Personally I don't think much of the idea of getting Soler. He's a decent passer for sure, especially with those defence splitting through balls, but apparently he's not a great dribbler and he can't tackle either. I don't see him as that much of an upgrade on JWP, and like him most of Soler's goal...

"For me his runs with the ball are best from central positions rather than out wide because he can go past the opposition easy enough but needs space to run into. He's not like Bowen who has such close control that running the flanks suits him better. When Kudus plays on the left he mostly seems to ...

"De Niro's best work in the 70s and 80s surpasses Pacino's for me. That said, De Niro became really bland when he hit middle age while Pacino at least learned to ham it up a little. I've seen Sergi Roberto play loads of times. Always struck me as the equivalent of Phil Neville at Man Utd. Nowhere near the standard of his team mates but a decent jack of all trades who can play multiple positions. He'd be probably the slowest full back in the league if we played him at RB. If we ...

There was a big difference last season whenever Alvarez didn't play. We only won 2 of the 10 league games he didn't start and we went out of the FA cup and Europa League through games he didn't play in.
