How you can say our problems stem from the summer recruitment is beyond me.

Our problems lie in organisation, fitness (or lack of it) and players out of position.wrong formation.

You probably can criticise our recruitment but the root cause of this malaise is pretty seems clear to me

We probably still have at least the 10th best squad, so why aren't we 10th?

Noble was poor but Kouyate has been far worse. Both should be rested.

I preferred the stronger, experienced defence including Ogbinna and Arbeloa as full backs.
There was certainly less bombing forward and leaving gaps than our previous games.

Obiang was very good, even after getting an early yellow and needs to start at the expense of Noble, who I thought was poor yesterday.

Antonio was awful sadly. Our problems stem from the awful recruitment in the summer. Not of the feebies and loans has made any impact whatsoever, infact it could be argued we're weaker with out Moses, Song and Emeneke.

Agree Rios that refs at the home games have been generous to visiting teams who have all learned that closing down West Ham and being very physical knocks us out of our stride etc.. Boro were nibbling at any player with the ball and got away with a lot as did Southampton and Watford. That said, it was clever stuff with lots of pushing and pulling. A stronger ref may have penalised them with a few more yellows but that's the way everything is going for us just now.

However, it was not the main reason we were so poor for most of the game. Bilic selections, tactics and lack of fitness were more the problem IMHO.

The ref yesterday was shit. Missed so many fouls and was it me, or did he forget to mark the line for Payet's free kick where it was obvious the wall was only 5 or 6 yards away.

The norm for building a team is getting the spine strong, when the spine consists of players like the ones we've got playing there at the moment it's hardly surprising for us to be in the position were in.
Adrian - always been could do better, but out of form as well at the moment.

Reid, Collins, Ogbonna - different pairing each week, all not playing their best.

Noble and Kouyate - captain nowhere near the form of last season, Kouyate looks lost.

Zaza and the kids - no need to say more.

Add to that the fitness or lack of in the team, most seem to be running through treacle, add injuries and no home advantage anymore, crowd unrest and owners who seem to care more for numbers on seats than the loyal fans ( and most us have had fuck all to cheer about since 86). Poor planning all round - how is it ok for away fans to stand? How have the away fans got as good seats as ours? Put them up in the fucking gods.

Sully,Gold and especially Brady should be telling the owners and operators of the stadium louder to either get things sorted quick or suffer as it feels as we've been sold a pup. They need to stay with the fans and not force us into unrest or away.

So many things wrong that need sorting quickly.

Chelsea game could be interesting for a lot of reasons

It's a good point that shit players impinge on the rest of the team.
Teams don't see our forwards bar Payet and Antonio as a threat so can concentrate on them. They can also push up and hurt our midfield as their defenders are relaxed in possession.
Watched MOTD last night and J Pearce in commentary made a point when Rhodes had a shot that Adrian blocked. The ball had come straight back from one of our attacks into a shot on our goal because as he pointed out we lost the ball and 4 of our attackers were walking and putting no pressure on.

You lot need to remember, midfields look shit when they don't have forwards making runs. Zaza is stationary 99% of the time, no running into space, leaving the MF with nowhere to pass except sideways and backwards.

Happy not to lose, certainly not a good performance in the slightest - think we'd have been unfortunate not to come away with a point and but for some terrible decision making in the final third we might have (underservedly) snatched all three points.

All for Slav changing things up, he can't keep picking the same players when we're in this kind of form. However can't help but feel perplexed that the likes of Oxford, Fegouhli and maybe Fletcher aren't getting a start ahead of Zaza, Tore and Collins on current form. Although good to Obiang in the side proving he deserves to be in the side - made a huge difference to the centre halves performance.

All in all a (small) step in the right direction, the blind optimist within me hopes that come the palace game we have the likes of Cresswell, Carroll and Sakho back to make an impact and we grind out a solid away win to get a run of results started.

I pray that the optimist in me is finally right for once, I fear if he isn't then Mr Billic could be in trouble and the pressures of the modern game will win out again. Be a shame that.

If we were playing a half decent team yesterday it would have been another defeat. A draw at home to this promoted shit is nowhere near good enough. Bilic won't go now, but couldn't really complain if he did. Only matter of time though as I don't see how he turns this around.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Middlesboro - The Official Match Thread FT 1-1
Reid was my MOTM. He was outstanding.

Forshaw did well too. He had no problem playing against Kouyate, Noble and Obiang.

Our midfield is toilet most of the time. Can't create, can't defend, can't dominate the middle. 3 defensive midfielders and a rookie is still dominating the middle of the pitch.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Middlesboro - The Official Match Thread FT 1-1
Not our finest hour but in the context of what has gone before that was an improvement

Obiang played well, Reid returning to form and Ginge more measured

Antonio ran his bollox off and was a genuine threat as well as his customary profligate self

Payet was obviously in flashes just genius - his goal, well, nuff said

But, Bilic persists with passengers and he has to make the decision to drop the makeweights if he wants to keep his job
