Thought Randolf was at fault for both goals, about time he warmed the bench. Never get beaten on your near post, school boy error. And god knows what he was doing getting involved for the late corner!!

Who needs payet when we have Lanzini, an absolute gem who never stops running and got an assist plus a brilliant goal, well done young man!!

I thought snodgrass was first class in the first half, but in the second I think he was asked to play further back as a kind of wing back in place of Cresswell and he did not keep position well and was not great as a wing back or as forward midfield, but that's what's happens when you are improvising with players out of their best position. All in all he did very well. He is a much better player than I thought he was. I am very pleased he joined us.

Thought we played well. Everyone put in a decent performance, only one i werent too impressed with was Snodders. Didnt think he created enough from open play.

God knows how WBA are 9th, easily the worst side to come to our place this season. A horrible horrible excuse of a football team, with Pulis making BFS look like PEP. Really hope they go down next season although been saying that for years.

Not too much to change for us, on another day we hold out for a vital win. Randolph should have come and claimed that cross however.

Oh and Reid and Obiang are in danger of becoming a bit too good for us !

Agree with Sir Alf
Snodgrass not quite on his game in general play compared to his previous games.
What I did like was that when there was a break in play at one point in the second half he was on the touchline having an animated conversation with Bilic about something we weren't doing presumably.
Strikes me as a leader who is a strong player in the dressing room

Cheers Alf

I tend to think that if a player doesn't have pace he needs to have something else a bit special in his locker.

Snodgrass is a dead ball specialist and for that alone he earns his place in the team. We will score a lot of goals from those corners and free kicks he whips in, especially when Sakho and Carroll are in the box.

Sir Alf, you mean three incomers who will replace existing players because they are better I take it?

One of the new guys needs to be a goalkeeper another a right back but what other position do you have in mind, striker?

Pace is in the mind not in the legs, Sir Alf.

Infidel - Snodgrass was indeed good on set pieces and with his crossing etc but struggled a bit in general play this week. He is still getting to know his new team mates and it may have been why he was holding onto it for too long and getting caught in possession. But he has a good football brain and awareness and although lacking the pure talent of a Payet his work rate compensates as he gets back and helps to close down.

Shame he is another with no pace. We really need to address that in midfield. PAce and strength needed. Obiang is not lightening but is quick enough to get back and to close down when we are not in possession. He gets better and better although may have been guilty of trying one too many "Hollywood" passes yesterday :-)

We need pace and players that collectively (as a unit) better at getting back, closing down.

Hopefully that will be something that is addressed in summer. I am not for all this "Noble out" nonsense but we have to start the process of recruiting someone to ultimately replace him as first choice in the next season or two when he will have to accept he may be subbed or start on the bench a lot more.

Btw, as well as Ferghouli did 2nd half, we still need better longer term. Too lightweight.

We need to recruit 2 or 3 players of real quality this summer not 10 squad fillers.

I've been pleasantly surprised by Snoddles. Interesting that he is considered to be a better dead ball striker than Noble.

The only think I didn't like was the faint breeze that caused him to go over in the penalty area.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-2
Snodgrass is good on crosses but doesnt have that much pace which is a worry when you have Noble plodding alongside him.

Alf

I didn't get to watch the game but surprised not to see Snodgrass on your list.

The highlights showed him whipping in crosses and corners. Looked pretty useful.

Highlights can be misleading though, obviously.

Sometimes you can fool a defender by trapping the ball past him , tripping over and heading the ball in while breaking your nose

But I wouldn't expect to make a career out of it
