I was tucked up warm in bed, with an endless supply of bottled water and paper handkerchiefs, marvelling at the productivity of my goblet cells, and reading a paperback (which will probably need to be chucked away now, due to THE PLAGUE). Still testing positive on DAY THIRTEEN, btw.

Ha ha, had to laugh as I did have a Chinese Takeaway but it will be next year's new years eve before I can afford another one. Prawn crackers, crabmeat and sweetcorn soup, 1/4 crispy duck, garlic prawns and a beef chow mein for £28,,,Ten quid for 1/4 of a duck FMOB, Two years ago that lot cost me £21.
You did forget thigs going wrong on NYE and no bugger about until after a Bank Holiday. On NYE my PC had a problem, rain started coming through the garage wall and have a bowl under the sink catching a leak! Happy F'ing New Year indeed!!

Anyone starting to get new year messages where people attach posed photos of themselves wearing Christmas jumper or pyjamas? Same at Christmas.
Previous years I was mainly getting them from Spanish friends who would attach photos of themselves in Christmas jumpers under the tree. This year family from Canning Town started doing it as though they are the Prime Minister and his family.

Been daughters 21st so been proper manic… that on top of almost losing the dog we are looking after on a walk as the fucking thing would not leave the local squirrels alone… found after half hour screaming its bleeding name out over local park. So even though shitty chest cold will be watching MATES Mod/Ska/Indie band along with a few other MATES (and their better halves)… Happy New Year all xx

Never given a fuck about NYE but this year seems different for me. Nearly didn't make it and to be sitting here with my son and my health (apparently) makes it actually mean something this year.

Pubs at Christmas and new year are a pain in the arse.
I firmly believe that once a year types wearing xmas jumpers who order Guinness last and fuck about ordering food etc should be forced to attend an induction course in pub etiquette in November before being let loose on licenced premises.

Only day of the year I've been burgled - well, they tried, anyway.
I was actually ill in bed (Xmas excess), and they fucked off quick when I got up, despite my shit state and the fact I was outnumbered 2-1.
They managed to wreck the front door, though.
Enjoyed most of the other NYEs more

Will be my last UK based NYE - was big when I was (a lot younger) as my mother was Scottish and, as my father and all his family hailed from south London, was always a good excuse for a knees-up at Oxsaw senior's Towers.
My 2nd wife was also Scottish but, for some reason, felt that sort of thing was not sophisticated enough for her, so it largely passed me by for 5 years.
My kids, however, are incredibly proud of their Scots heritage and somewhat terrorise where they live in the Netherlands with all sorts of quaint Scottish customs.
Wouldn't mind sending the Special Needs Doom Goblin a big lump of coal (air freight, COD), just to remind her of what poor people use to keep warm.

However this year I am actually venturing out with the missus and kids and best mates, but only local, with good company and cab booked for 12:15.
Rather be indoors with a takeaway, film and bed by 11 though.

i have covid so im forced to "see it in" from home, although thers no way i need to see the cringeworthy TV Fest that is the Time Square ball drop. Always amuses me how thousands of people cram into times square for 6 hours in the feeezing cold to see a glass ball descend a pole at midnight. Always found London to be a lot more classy.
I'll anyway raise a glass of Macallan with nychammerette.
