Amazed how anyone can see Benteke as a better backup for Antonio than King. Benteke is one of the few prem players who is less mobile than Haller was.

It shows that IF you can avoid injuries you don't need an army of players. Look at our back 4, it was a proper 'reserve' back 4, but still all first team players.
Moyes got it bang on, fringe players got a chance to impress while resting the first X1. Thankfully he didn't heed the advice of some clowns on here.

I just watched the highlights again and it was a really professional and polished performance.
They then said that Moyes wants to win the FA Cup this season for Mark Noble.
I then had a vision of Noble and Rice lifting the trophy between them - and it looked good! ⚒

Nothing to grumble about today looked very well drilled and would have made much better sides than Doncaster look ordinary. With the exception of Fredericks thought we were decent.
Who ever wins tomorrow they’ll know we’ll be hard to beat.
Credit has to go to Moyes he’s doing the business especially considering our cunts owners.

Good all round display. Yarmo,mature mixed in with a few tricks. Benrahma ,lots of good skill,a goal will work wonders and more will follow.Lanzini,good skills and link up but needs to stop trying so hard to score and just be more relaxed when he gets in those positions.
Fornals ,good all round performance in sweveral positions.Could fulfill a role in center mid if needed.
Afolyan did what strikers should do,be in the right place at the right time.
Baptiste looked so comfortable with every touch which brings me to our only down side.
Fredricks, just doesn't cut it even against Doncaster.Early assist aside. Decision making poor and passing,shooting woeful. Move on...there's enough young talent around with Ashby to waiting in the wings,Fredricks will only slow their progress.

Interesting how Lanzini divides opinion on here. I thought he had one of his better games tonight, but that's not saying much, given how poor he has been for some time now. For me, he flatters to deceive - looks busy but plays lots of easy passes, takes few risks, lacks penetration. When he does get in a good position he shoots over the bar or straight at the keeper. It's a shame to say it, but he shouldn't be any more than back-up and we should jump at any offers that come in. But they won't come in, will they. We all know that.

I think if you’re GSB and with accumulated losses of £120m, you’d say Yarmolenko or a young forward can cover Antonio, Noble or Lanzini covers Rice & Soucek and we have enough defenders and keepers to get to summer comfortably.
We don’t particularly need anyone unless someone comes up cheaply that Moyes wants long term. Of course fans want signings that too often turn out just to be a waste of money. I see it coming....in fact hasn’t Moyes actually said that?

GPH. I was replying to Iron and agree if there is no one good enough to sign in this window we should wait until Summer. Benteke would be a useful interim back up. Josh King is not the answer and I don’t see many other viable options. That’s all my friend.

He's been in form for about a month, after years of looking atrocious.
I'd be too worried about him losing it again, this time forever, if we signed him before he had a lot more of a decent spell behind him.

Iron I know what you are saying but we need one so we can rest Dickie every now and then. Games are thick and fast this season and we almost have a duty of care to look after him. He has well and truly earned that right. Been awesome for us and I absolutely love the man. Real rag to riches story and hard work and belief has got him to where he is. Benteke may be a good option until the end of the season. Seems like Palace may be willing to listen to offers. Cheeky loan with option to buy then refocus in Summer?

Unusually, this game made comfortable viewing. Doncaster are going well in League 2, but we dominated them and in the end a walk in the park. It was nice to see the young lad get a goal. He has a bit of promise. Yarmo took his goal well but for me there are too many tricks and flicks that don’t go anywhere. He can be a very frustrating player.
I wonder if it is worth getting a new striker just for the sake of it. If we can get the type of player that Moyes wants then great, but if the right player isn’t available we shouldn’t be settling for second best.

Yes, a perfect day in most respects: convincing win, rested players, more game time for youngsters and peripheral players. Fredericks did well, I thought.
