Saying cheerio for health reasons? I hope he's okay, he's a hammer after all.
Plus I note from wiki that the real Hugh Monteith (who was our goalkeeper 1900-1902) was born in 1874 but his death is unknown so maybe he is the REAL Hugh Monteith?? If so, no wonder he's feeling a bit ropey.

Well, he's a bit older than me, and we didn't discuss his wife.
If I had to describe him in the most negative way possible, I'd call him quirky, not mental.
Based on a couple of hours of his company in a pub, full of West Ham, drinking, singing and telling yarns.

Met him during the Football United tour down here the other year.
Had a couple of beers. Also met Lee S who occasionally posts on here. Didn't manage to meet up with blindman, who also occasionally posts on here.
